I don't understand the thread title. Did Darwin say an American swimmer was going to die in Dubai?

No I meant that's what "Darwin" in the title refers to (even if it doesn't really apply to this fellow).

i like in these kind of stories the tired old adage your oft hear recited is "he died doing what he loved"..........what.........t rying desperately to maintain buoyancy as his lungs fill up with fluid and muscles fail ::) ::)

or a racecar driver dies in a race.......... "he died doing what he loved".............no,,,,,,,,he loved racing cars, not crashing them into walls

a skydiver........"he died doing..."...........no again, he loved the freedom of descending to earth at high speed like a bird..............not spattering on the hard, cold earth at 120 mph

stale cliches.......

He'd have been in better shape if he was 260 at 3% and needed oxygen after walking up a flight of stairs. Bodybuilders are clearly the best athletes on the planet.

Not that I'm aware of.  I'm just speculating, as many times when they talk about an athlete having a "heart condition" that is really what it is...

PS:  I'm not a coroner, i just play one on the internets...  8)

Early speculation was that the salinity and the high temperature of the water (84-86 degrees) led to rapid dehydration.
