I dunno how anyone can shoot a deer, I don't see the fun in it, but venison is yum. Around here, beats them getting hit by the trains or on the highway.

it depends how big they are, and what time of year they are killed...

the big ones taste like shit....the baby ones taste great(and are small BBQ pit sized)

and if you shoot them during the hotter months they tend to have worms, and the ones that dont still taste like shit...

The problem with hunting wild animals is that it fucks up the ecosystem usually.

 Unless there happens to be an abundance of the animal in the area, and hunting that animal will bring the ecosystem back into balance. But this is usually not the case.

That's why every state has a DNR which sets QUOTAS on deer tags, turkey tags, bear tags...etc. So the ecosystem will be balanced and not over populated so you see animals dying from starvation, destroying crops, more vehicle collisions...etc.


Just in Illinois in 2009, 80,000 (give or take a few thousand) deer were harvested. They're not going to in danger of being under populated anytime soon.

i kill around 150-230 hogs a year....a lot of my buddies do the same.....and the state is still asking us to kill more due to the extreme over population..

i caught a 200lbs hog about a year ago, and corn fed it for 3 weeks then killed and ate it.....it tasted pretty good...a big difference in taste from a normal harvested hog...

you never know what you will find when you cut those nasty bastards open..

yea thats what ive heard, I hunt on some land a little north or austin and you can always here them rooting around i saw one the last time I was there but it was behind me and by the time I got turned around it was gone.

Deer, wild hogs, pheasant taste all very good.

If you get them on the right time, wild animals always taste better than domesticated, except for things like Iberico pork, Matsuzaka Beef and so on maybe.

I hunt out in Dryden which is about 2 hours north of del rio and they have goats that kick the timers on feeders off to get to the corn so when we see those little bastards we let them have it too...

That sounds like the life. I wish I had the money to move out into the country like that. I would love to be able to go out into my backyard and be able to take target practice when I wanted to. I would have a nice outside fireplace and cookout all the time.

i have been elk hunting several times.....i have been with people when they have killed some monster ass dear before....i dont really shoot a lot of deer, just not my thing...i have done the tracking.....it sucks ass when you have to carry all that shit back
