It was elimated from the Olympics about 1971 or so.  The reason was that guys would lean back as far as they could to turn it into a standing incline press.  It was ruining a lot of backs.  Judges couldn't agree on what was an acceptable lean back so they got rid of it.  Done properly it's one of the best exercises you can do to improve athletic performance in any sport. Just stand upright after the clean and press purely without any knee kip.
