The whole "build celebrities up then tear them down" thing works as follows:

We prop these people up to feel better about the species as a whole, "Look at what we can produce!" However, these people start to make us feel small as individuals. So, we have to knock them down a few pegs. It's basically insecurity.

Just carefully selecting some pics of them looking their worst and comparing them when they had make up on and even photoshopped a little.

We're just accostumed to looking at them all ready, so when finally some pics of them not looking so good come out they're going to look bad.

Same thing could be done with almost any woman out there.
