Sounds like a pretty clear signal that he is finally going to state his genuine position in support of homosexual marriage.

President Barack Obama said his views on same-sex marriage are evolving, but he stopped short of reversing his opposition to the unions.
“Attitudes evolve, including mine,” he said Wednesday in an interview at the White House with five liberal bloggers. “I think that it is an issue that I wrestle with and think about because I have a whole host of friends who are in gay partnerships. I have staff members who are in committed, monogamous relationships, who are raising children, who are wonderful parents. And I care about them deeply.”
He said he was not prepared to reverse his position at that very moment, but said he thinks a lot about the issue. His remarks came in response to a question from Joe Sudbay of AmericaBlog.
Richard Socarides, a former Bill Clinton adviser who has been critical of the Obama administration on gay issues, called Mr. Obama’s comments “a big moment.”
“Obama deserves a lot of credit for his willingness to be open and recognize that views evolve,” he said. “He is clearly sending a signal. In the way these things are measured, this is 8.5 on the political Richter scale.”
Asked today if that means the president plans to eventually change his position, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that he doesn’t know.
Mr. Obama supports civil unions for same-sex couples but not legal marriage, a position that has helped insulated him from attacks from the right on this issue but that has annoyed many gay and lesbian supporters.
