Actually, despite the rave reviews many give the McRib, history has proven that it only sells when McDonald's relentlessly promotes it.  As a full-time menu item, it isn't profitable.

I do think its a smart promtional thing.  It's kinda like cranberry sauce.....nobody has it except during the holidays and then rants about how great it is, yet nobody breaks it out in July...
