This could be made in to an interesting thread actually as he does have a point, I think CGI is to blame to be honest, I mean how much CGI is in Shawshank, The Godfather, Good fellas, Pulp Fiction, God Bad and The Ugly etc.The popcorn summer blockbusters are always the films everyone forgets about.

The truth here.  Consider though, if people continue watching garbage...why strive to make something else?  It's just a business like anything.
I just find it hard to believe, with all the scripts in the world, the most horrid films are somehow produced.  It's about getting in with a studio, your shitty films keep getting made.
The no name guy with a good script, nobody pays attention too.  Hollywood isnt' interest in creating something great or of substance, just about making money.  People only perpetuate it by going to the movies spending $15 to watch CGI.

Could I write a great script...fuck no.

I forgot about TV, probably because it's so horrid, I'd suppose it's just a given people know this.

You have your liberal/Marxists in Hollywood who want to send their messages via film, but if the shit doesn't sell those people will be looking for another line of work. The studios are first and foremost segments of large corporation which have to keep their shareholders happy via the bottom line.

Many of us are guilty of going to see the remakes when we all end up hating them,  usually out of curiousity to see how they mangle the original concept of the film.

CGI isn't the issue, it's the reliance on it to push the story when it should be there to compliment instead.  Directors have become lazy and unimaginative with all the ridiculous remakes and cookie cutter scripts.  There's plenty of movies I could mention where CGI was heavily used but because it was so seamless and helped compliment the story instead of drive it most people didn't notice it was CGI.

It's the same with music though as well.  One band starts becoming popular and the labels manufacture 10 clones to copy the sound.

FYI: most REAL explosions don't involve fire or flame.

"Gasoline" explosions in films are Benzoyl Peroxide...it explodes much more slowly than most explosives so it is easier to photograph with standard film making equipment...and with photogenic orange fireballs that won't ignite other flameable things nearby.
