I think they had mixed feelings. As professional skaters themselves they know it takes a lot of work to become an successful athlete. On the other hand the Dutch society is fucking average. We have the saying "Doe maar normaal, je bent al gek genoeg" which means "Act normal, you're already crazy enough". The Dutch society is not that competitive as in the U.S., the people are more sober over here with an exception when our national soccer team has a play
