here's a gdp per capita map, notice the US is somewhere between 10 and 50 times more than that of China:

also, the US GDP is 14.4 trillion.  the Chinese is 4.3.  They would need to grow at 100% a year for two years to catch up to us (US).

do not forget that the majority of the chinese economy is manufacture; they have minimal intellectual property, and their infrastructure and machinery is still very shitty.  no one ever got rich by grinding it out.

a 1 year moratorium on chinese exports would set them back 50 years.
