Speaking of. I remember way back when, I saw an essay -Tom Wolfe? - that geographically detailed all the medal of Honor winners, and a totally predominant # of them came from the Southern States. Now, I don't know if that reflected a lot of Civil War recipients, but it really looked significant. Anyone else?

that is an interesting topic....I've never really looked into it, but I would think it would be the other way around if it was in reference to the Civil War..... you got my cloudy little brain something to look into now.....

Found a site that lists from each state......and NC and SC only had 1 each for the Civil War.....Va had 10....of course.....Tenn 3.....didn't look at the rest, but it doesn't look the numbers would be skewed by the CW..... Vietnam is where there were a ton of them handed out, comparitively.

And Thomas Wolfe is from Asheville, NC...not too far from where I grew up.
