You oughta also look into the military if you want to study lessons in completely wasteful usage of resources, spending and uselessness to society.  They do all of the things you mentioned to the Nth degree and all on a Socialist premise.  Wouldn`t you rather have that type of Socialism be used for the benefit of mankind and nature instead solely for the systematic slaughter of both?  I know I would.

Exactly.  This has always been the goal of Karl Marx and of Socialism.  Breaking down the system to where the government is nearly non-existant and nobody is dependent upon it for anything whatsoever.  The people have complete power over their lives and resources.

The idea of Marxism and Socialism have been so polluted and misrepresented that people think its the totally opposite of what it really is.  The total opposite.  Its amazing actually to hear the right wing spout off about something they know absolutely nothing about and then have a diametrically opposite view of the philosophy.
