Chris "Curious George" Dickerson should never have won this one.  Zane was superior as was Viator and a host of others.  Too bad Nubret didn't enter as he would have given Zane a real run for the money.  Nubret, like Zane had more then enough mass, classical lines and two things sorely lacking in today's competitors.   Style and class.

I have met two of these gentlemen (Zane and Viator) and yes, they are not all that tall but sufficiently muscular to be considered Olympia caliber.

True, but all three of these men are still alive and this in spite of their use of steroids.  What passes for a physique champion today might not live long enough to enter their sixties.  I would rather look like Zane than anything that waddles across the dais today.

I know, as I was around at that time.  I'm old.    Another reason for the nickname is that Zane is highly educated with I believe, a Masters in either mathematics or chemistry.  A good man from what I know of him.  It doesn't make it any less wrong to state this, but what those guys took is far, far less than what these pseudo-gorillas inject and ingest today.    Zane's physique is classic, something like Ronnie Coleslaw's  or Jaw Cutler's  is just comedic in proportion and totally unhealthy.  I can't understand why they do it other than the only thing bigger than their bodies is their ego.  Over the course of time they will shrink and then most of the people here will make fun of them.

Except back detail, and his conditioning was not as good as 1,2... And not as good as Bannout or Beckles either. If anything, it was Viator that got the gift.

I think crowds have always head towards the size game. It's just easier to respond to and it certainly doesn't mean that the judges should award titles based on size alone.
