you guys dont have a clue..
usain was running world beating times when he was playing soccer and cricket when he was 12 and 13 years old.
he was "encouraged" to go into track. he did and with almost no training was winning the nationals at 14 and 15..in times that were world youth class.
he was known as a lazy trainer and only spent some minimal time doing 200m and 400m- cos his coaches couldnt get him to turn up and dedicate to the sport. under that regime he won the world junior champs and set world junior records..still without a proper training regime.
so here we have a guy who wins everything without trying...sound like someone who would be tempted by drugs?...nope. drug use needs 2 things, motive and opportunity. in the jamaican towns there is a huge culture of doing it the noble way. this tradition goes waaay back- and their champs competed year after year against drug fueled russians, east germans and americans..and still did respectfully.
now testing stores your blood samples for a decade- and the sport is cleaner than ever before. if you cheat, you will be caught...if not now, later.
so then usain steps up to the senior ranks and finds himself in a year of pain- not winning everything and barely doing better than he was a year earlier.
he is then convinced to start out on proper training and "maybe run a 100m for fun to see how you go".
his first ever 100m, during his 200m/400m training program is a 10.03s.
he then starts to string some 19.7 200m together and they drop the 400m from his training and do some more 100m.
hes still learning the 100m and concentrating on the 200m and wins the jamaican seniors in 9.76s...surprises himself!.
with nearly 2 years of hard training under his belt he runs a 19.3 200m and decides to enter the 100m and runs 9.69s.
michael johnson had never ran sub 19.66 until his 19.32 and was in his early 30s when he did that- far more suspicious than barely 20 year old still learning and improving and having won everything he's ever entered since he could walk.
so he then gets injured but manages to train some more and then improves again to 19.19 and 9.58..but this time the 9.58 had more wind assistance than his 9.69 that had the celebration...meaning his 9.58 was only marginally better than his 9.69 the year before (in reality).
so really this is a history and tale of someone who is a freak and has always been one..who has finally decided to put in some effort and we're seeing the results...i dont see any motive whatsoever for him to use drugs..
usual telltale indicators for drugs are musculature, unusual improvement in the mid to late 20s or even 30s (check out the american carmela jeter who went from also ran 11s runner to second fastest woman of all time- when she suddenly hit her almost 30s)...usain doesnt show any of this.
also, the druggies are usually the guys who never quite made it, or never quite got to number 1. They also generally dont try to make it too obvious by smashing world records to pieces- unless very stupid.
so before you flap your mouths off, do some research. just because the US has a history of cheaters, doesnt mean other countries do too. Usain trains in the US and is the most tested athlete on the circuit.
perhaps the suspect athletes are Tyson Gay- who has all of the traits of a cheat, (never could quite make it and got stuck at 9.9 for some time) and carmela jeter- guess where they are both from?!..anyone?, anyone?..
