TA, have you ever tried Tapatio?
« on: November 13, 2010, 02:41:25 PM »
Just found a great hot sauce called Tapatio.  It has spices and texture in it, going to give it a try tonight making wings.  It was a Mexican/American guy who made it, then made it big. True American sucess story, he hustled and worked his butt off and it's a great product.  Outstanding.

Indeed I have!  I used to get it with a wooden stopper.  Do they still manufacture that beautiful little bottle with the wood accent?  Where on the Scoville scale would you say the Tapatio falls as its been forever and a day since I have bought it.

However, I assume you are making Buffalo Wings (or some variation thereof) which I make on occasion and  Frank`s Red Hot Sauce is the original sauce used by Frank Lenz when he invented the Buffalo Win in the fall of 1964.

I stick with Franks Red Hot if I am Deep Frying and making Buffalo Wings.  Although I am surely not opposed to deviating and experimenting with a different sauce base.  Let me know how it compares to the original.

I am doing it tonight.  I am delighted you know about Franks.  I went to Hooters in Vegas and they still couldn't get the wings right.  Just deep fry them, throw them in a bowl with Franks and butter-your done.  When I go down to the OBX, Hooter's in Kitty Hawk seems they have it right.  Bobby Flay does some unique things with them also which breaks up the monotony. Funny story:  Back in 1987 I went to Toronto and they served me frozen breaded banquet chicken as Buffalo wings.  That will ever be embedded in my mind, lol.

TA, have you ever tried putting Cilantro in your mashed potatos?  I tried them a few years ago at Mesa Grill and I was hooked.  Thanksgiving is going to be a bountiful feast.

Nothing!  I do it for fun and stress relief.  I also volunteer at the local shelter every Thanksgiving eve.  and they seem to love my cooking.  Since you are big fan of her, I did "rush to judgement" with her.  Please don't get me started about that POS Frugal Gourmet guy.

Of course they do.  It's that, or eating out of a dumpster.
