Exactly , what they don't get is that Manny started as a  Flyweight (112lbs ) they want Manny to fight Martinez /Williams these guys walk around 175/180lbs what is next ,Andre Ward ,Klitchskos   ::).
Man, honestly, do you research before you write?  Thats exactly the weigth margarito,  De la Hoy and Clotty walk around at.  As to the best not wanting to fight him.  Ok, FMW has his ego up his ass but manny can pick any othe fighter he wants. None of those guys mentioned would say no to Manny and turn down what would be the biggest payday of their life.

You point about Ward or Klitchko is irrelevnt.  Williams, Berto and Martinez are the other title holders, deserved title holders in the exact classs he cherry picked Margarito from. Not unreasonable to question why a guy as good as Manny would fight a guy coming off his biggest loss and 2 yr hiatus when there are other tougher and more deserving opponents to fight in the SAME CLASS

right on man...It never stops some people are never satisfied...dude is a living legend but oh oh he wont go up to fight williams...give me a fuckin break already...

who said he has to fight williams?  he didnt bother fighting the top 3 welterweights but was considered the top of the class.

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao! Super Welterweight

how the fuck does he win a superwelterweight belt vs a guy coming off of a suspension and knockout?

all this means he is equal to the greats like Ali?  ???

BS!

Arum is right up there with Don King now.  then again...he and roach get 40% of pac's purses...so let the BS flow.

would been at least the same amount of money as he got for Margarito.  There wasn't one expert who thought Margarito had a chance. It's more like no chance against Martinez/Williams than no money.  the biggest money fight for him is FMW, next is Mosley.  Manny's trainer said Mosley was too big for him, then.what does he do, Go out and fight a guy bigger than Mosley, the same guy who got KO'd by Mosley 2 yrs earlier in a one sided fight.
Why doesn't Manny give Marquez a 3rd fight? except for the 3 early knockdowns in the 1st fight Marquez put on a clinic against him.  Pretty much the same way FMW put on a clinic against Marquez.

Who's Berto beat ??? Nobody, but he has a belt, speed and some pop  much more dangerous than Margarito.  I guess much too dangerous for Manny

Couldnt' agree more.  Manny hasn't fought anyone in their prime.  If Floyd fought Margarito after being anihalated by Mosley and out of boxing for 2 yrs, the media and all these Manny fans would be all over him. Instead, Manny is being called one of the greatest of all time  ::)

FMW hasn't fought the best?  He destroyed Corales (rip) in his prime. Fought Castillo twice and schooled him in the 2nd fight, IN HIS PRIME. If a light punching Clotty & margarito hurt Manny, imagine what Corales would've done.  His 8 belts is not the same as Leonard's 5 or Whitakers 5 or Jones 5 or whatever.  They fought the best that was out there.

Gretaest since Ali and Robinson ??? ???  I respect Steward but wtf.  If he goes out and beat Floyd, Berto, Williams, even Mosley the way he's beaten his last few opponents then I can understand the comparison.  For now, his name don't belong in the same conversation as Hagler, Hearns, Jones, Whitaker, Chavez, Leonard, Duran, Mosley, etc

Manny has a far better resume than Mayweather. Mayweather established himself at the weight a long time before Manny and has been ducking real challenges a lot longer, he is also naturally a bigger man.

Jones was one of the biggest cherry pickers of all time, even his own network affiliates reprimanded him for it. His name belongs amongst any of those guys. He has easily surpassed Mosley, Chavez, Jones.

Mosley is shot, which is why Floyd fought him. Floyd doesn't want to fight anyone with a pulse so that's that fight out of the window. Williams is basically a cruiser weight lol.

I get the idea that you don't actually know a great deal about the guys names that you are referencing. Anybody that knows anything about boxing knows that Manny belongs in the most exalted company.

I get the idea you don't know much about boxing or these guys I mentioned to put Manny's name among the greatest.  Who the hell did he beat to be put in that conversation?

If Mosley is shot what's Margarito? If you followed boxing you'd know the same shot Mosley that FMW beat is the same guy that manhandled and KO'd Margarito easily 2 yrs ago and then call Manny the greatest for beating the same guy 2 yrs later in his comeback fight  ;D.  The same Mosley who Roach said is too big for Manny and wouldn't let Manny fight him at the same time when FMW fought him.

Mosley looked better against Marg 2 yrs ago, without the layoff, than Manny did and even had the power to knock him out.

Who did Jones cherry pick???  Virgil Hill, Toney, Hopkin, etc.  all Hall of famers in their primes and considered the best lb 4 lb at the time.  Please name me one Hall of famer Manny beat IN THEIR PRIME

Mosley is a natural lightweight with a big frame, Manny started out at lightflyweight...Mosely didn't look better at all, he clinched when in range most of the time which shut down Margo's work. Yeah he got the stoppage, Shane is a big puncher, what's your point. It must be said that two years is a long time, styles make fights and Margo was a perfect style matchup for Shane. If you would have said that Manny would be fighting guys like Cotto, Hatton, Margo a few years ago, people would of thought you were crazy and that he would get destroyed.

Roy was renowned for avoiding challenges most of his career. Toney was completely weight drained which is well documented. He beat a young Hopkins in a non eventfull fight granted, although Bernard was green and hadn't really mastered his craft yet. It should be noted that he never gave rematches to either of these fighters. He failed to unify against fellow title holder Dariusz Michalczewsk. He fought probably the weakest heavyweight title holder in the last 50 years in John Ruiz, called out Lewis and the Klitschko's and then dropped down again. Fought cans like Woods, obese light welter Vinny Paz, shot Mccalum and a shit load of no names i can't even be bothered to list during his championship run.

He was great and had unique gifts, but if you want to tear someones resume apart it is pretty easy. With Roy it's easier than most, he even admitted himself he took the easy route at times, his former boss at HBO said as much as well. There were a lot of dangerous fighters that Roy didn't fight.

I don't understand what you are debating here? Manny is widely considered an ATG and his resume surpasses that of most of the guys you listed.

He was named Fighter of the Decade by the Boxing Writers Association of America. I think you are forgetting what weight he started out at, he is fighting guys who are a lot naturally bigger than him. Who would you suggest he fights to validate himself, i'm curious?

spot on post with facts...not some bias fan boy shit...Fact pacman is at least the best fighter of the last decade anyone that claims otherwise has a biased agenda....dude has went up how many weight classes?...And been completely dominate...but thats still not enough to convince the haters...

like I said that's like people calling GSP a pussy because he wont go up enough in weight to fight brock lesner..please...put it this way if brock was shrunk to 170lbs GSP would destroy him.same with pacman...shrink any of those already named fighters in height, weight, reach to that of your average 135-140lbs fighter and watch pacman dismantle there asses ..but since a guy like williams cant go down to say oh 140lbs then oh oh manny aint shit because he wont fight a guy 3-5 weight classes above where pacman would normally fight...It's a fucking joke...anyone that doesnt give manny his props at this point is also a joke...

manny is a fighter that has stretched himself to the limit weight wise yet you have your know it alls that wanna talk shit & wont ever be satisfied....

Pacman if not the best is top 3-5 of all time put that in your pipe and smoke it then put your lips around my dick and choke it...

and these guys doing boxing math where w beat x therefore y would destroy z...haha that's so kindergarten shit...MMA or boxing math never add up like that and you have the brain of a 1st grader to even imply such drivel...

i'm tired of arum.  let him fight berto or martinez and i'm sold.  fucking fight a monster puncher with good chin and equal hand speed, PRIME in his class in a unification bout.  and martinez IS A YOUNG 35 AND  is shorter than margo and can fight at 154...so enough of the BS about too big like williams.   but i see arum has his eyes on an old ass  mosley since they saw what fmw did with him or have manny fight a blown up 140 guy.   ::)

JUST SOME TALK FROM HOPKINS.

While watching Manny Pacquiao dominate Antonio Margarito during Saturday night's HBO pay per view televised clash at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, many African American boxers and fight fans wondered when they would see the Filipino super star challenge Floyd Mayweather "or any other top notch black fighter."

At least, that's what one of boxing's elder statesmen, Bernard Hopkins, believes.

"Maybe I'm biased because I'm black, but I think that this is what is said at people's homes and around the dinner table among black boxing fans and fighters. Most of them won't say it [in public] because they're not being real and they don't have the balls to say it," said Hopkins, a 45-year-old future Hall of Famer and a multi-division champion.

"But I do think that a fighter like like the Ray Leonards or anyone like that would be beat by a guy [like Pacquiao] if they come with their game," said Hopkins. "Listen, this ain't a racial thing, but then again, maybe it is. But the style that is embedded in most of us black fighters, that style could be a problem to any other style of fighting."

Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts) earned the WBC's vacant junior middleweight (154 pounds) belt, his eighth crown over as many weight classes, with Saturday night's unanimous decision over the Mexican-born Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs) at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

Already the WBO welterweight (147 pounds) champion, Pacquiao won for the 13th straight time, including eight knockouts during that run. Nicknamed "The Mexicutioner," Pacquiao's triumph over Margarito continued his dominance over Mexican fighters, against whom he is 11-0-1, with seven knockouts during his winning streak.

Speaking for Pacquaio, the fighter's adviser, Michael Koncz, said that "Manny has nothing left to prove to anybody."

"I would say to hell with all of those guys who are talking. Manny has done more than anybody in boxing than anybody has ever imagined. He has the right to select his opponents. These black fighters, you know, we're not prejudiced. We don't care if they're black, green or blue," said Koncz.

"All that we care about is what fighter has a following," said Koncz. "When these fighters that are crying about fighting Manny develop a following, and can prove to us, statistically, that it's economically feasible, then we will have no problem fighting them. But until then, they can cry all that they want."

But Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports wrote recently, that "Pacquiao still has [yet] to face the ultimate test -- the fast, speedy, in-his-prime opponent that a [Floyd] Mayweather would be."

A fighter such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Iole contends, "represents the kind of fighter Pacquiao has yet to face: A big guy with tremendous speed and quickness as well as punching power, defensive skill and a quality chin."

"That's why Floyd Mayweather would beat Manny Pacquiao because the styles that African American fighters -- and I mean, black fighters from the streets or the inner cities -- would be successful," said Hopkins. "I think Floyd Mayweather would pot-shot Pacquiao and bust him up in between the four-to-five punches that Pacquiao throws and then set him up later on down the line."

But negotiations to make a bout between Mayweather (40-0, 25 knockouts) and Pacquiao have twice fallen apart, even as Koncz said that Pacquiao still very much wants that fight.

"As far as Floyd Mayweather, he has [Top Rank Promotions' CEO] Bob Arum's phone number and [Mayweather's adviser] Al Haymon has Bob Arum's phone number. He has my phone number," said Koncz.

"But we're not going to chase him," said Koncz. "We gave him two opportunities and they insulted us and attempted to make us look foolish. So, we're not chasing him. If he wants to call us, then he's welcome to call us."

Pacquiao has faced and beaten the counter-punching Joshua Clottey, a native of Ghana, but Hopkins discounts that win.

"Clottey is 'black,' but not a 'black boxer' from the states with a slick style. So you can't really say that Clottey is an African American fighter in that sense," said Hopkins. "No, I'm talking about an inner city, American-born fighter who has the style of maybe a Floyd Mayweather or a Zab Judah or a Shane Mosley."

Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, has gotten wind of such rumblings, but, as Hopkins said, rarely aloud.

"I have heard that, yes. A lot of people don't articulate it. But a lot of people, in effect, hint at it. But you're absolutely correct, and there is no argument there," said Arum. "Like I said, there's no argument there that he has not fought a top African American fighter. But the notion that he would not fight an African American fighter is rediculous."

If a mega bout with unbeaten Mayweather can not be made, Arum said that he is considering putting Pacquiao in against other African American boxers.

Arum said that former world titlist Shane Mosley is perhaps the first consideration for Pacquiao, whose trainer, Freddie Roach, told FanHouse that he no longer wants Pacquiao to fight below the welterweight division.

Arum also mentioned the winner of a scheduled, Jan. 29, HBO televised bout featuring southpaw WBC junior welterweight (140 pounds) king Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs) and WBO counter part Tim Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs), or a match up against talented WBC welterweight champ Andre Berto (26-0, 20 KOs).

"A fight with Shane Mosley would answer that situation. And maybe the winner of Devon Alexander and Tim Bradley would answer that. Andre Berto might be a consideration, also, yes," said Arum.

"There's no reason why he wouldn't fight an Andre Berto, because he's at 147 pounds. Berto's Manny's size, so, you know, that's good," said Arum. "We're looking for African Americans to fight. I would think that it is likely that Manny will fight an African American in his next fight, whether it's Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, or somebody else."

Koncz concurred that Mosley (47-6-1, 39 KOs) is the leading candidate to face Pacquiao.

"As for Shane Mosley, I had discussions with him in Texas, and that's a possibility. I told him that we would talk after the [Margarito] fight," said Koncz.

"I guess that he's with [adviser] James Prince and not with Golden Boy [Promotions,] so that makes things easier for us also," said Koncz. "Out of all of the African American fighters, the one with the biggest following and that makes the most economic sense to us would be Shane Mosley."

Arum said, however, that he would not be likely to match the nearly 5-foot-7 Pacquiao, who weighed in at 144.6 pounds against Margarito's 150, with the nearly 6-2 Paul Williams (39-1, 27 KOs).

A southpaw former three-time world champion, Williams has weighed in at as much as 157 pounds for non-title, middleweight (160 pounds) wins over former world champion, Winky Wright, and, Sergio Martinez -- the latter in a December clash of southpaws during which both fighters were floored in the first round.

Williams weighed 145.5 when he out-pointed Margarito in July of 2007 for the WBO welterweight crown, and, nearly 146 pounds in June of 2008 when his first-round knockout dethroned southpaw Carlos Quintana in a rematch of Quintana's, February, 2008 win over Williams.

Williams, however, has not fought at 147 since the second Quintana bout.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, weighed in at a career-high, 145 and three fourths for his unanimous decision win over Clottey in March, and entered the ring at a weight disadvantage of 148-to-165 against Margarito.

Pacquiao, nevertheless, won virtually every round against Margarito, even as the eventual winner was doubled over by a vicious left-handed body shot by Margarito in the sixth round.

Arum said that Pacquiao absorbed a lot of punishment against both Clottey and Margarito, suffering sore wrists and ribs against Margarito, the latter of which required an MRI examination before he was cleared.

Arum won't risk similar injuries that could result from a Pacquiao-Williams clash.

"Paul Williams is just too big. I mean, Manny Pacquiao is a little guy who has to eat to get up to a weight to fight Antonio Margarito. I want to put him in at least with a couple of fighters," said Arum.

"Every fight he's fighting these giants. I mean, you know, if I keep doing that, I'll just wear him down," said Arum. "If Mayweather is not available, then I want to put him in with guys his own size."

Williams, however, simply wants a shot at Pacquiao.

"It ain't got nothing to do with whether you're African American, white, Chinese, Puerto Rican or whatever. None of that really matters to me. If you've got the skills, then you've got the skills," Williams said on Tuesday from Atlantic City, N.J., where he is preparing for Saturday's HBO televised rematch with Martinez (45-2-2, 24 KOs).

"Manny is the man out there now. He's got all of the hype and he's got eight titles that he's won, so he's the man and you've got to respect that and give him his props," said Williams. "But my thing is that they say that he's beaten up a lot of big guys, and they say that I'm beating up a lot of little guys, so I'd love to get in there and fight Manny Pacquiao."

But Williams may just have to wait in line, said Koncz.

"The selection of opponents for Manny has nothing to do with race, creed or color. It's all about business. And they can cry all that they want. It's all about economics, now, with Manny's career," said Koncz.

"We have the luxury of doing that because Manny has proven to the world that he's got nothing left to prove," said Koncz. "If there are any boxing people out there who doubt him, then, to hell with them."

Barrera ,Morales ,Marquez

arguably Manny lost against Marquez in their 2nd fight, many thought so. Also, Morrales beat Manny in their first fight and it's fair to say both Morrales and Barrera weren't prime anymore. Marquez is really the only fighter that was prime and worthy at the same time for Manny.

Oh my bad, that ends the debate then  ::) He beat Barera which was very impressive, Morales beat him and almost knocked him out, against Marquez, he knocked him down 3 times in the 1st round in the 1st fight and one time in the 2nd fight. beside those 2 rounds, Marquez dominated him for the next 22 rounds.  If he's considered one of the greatest and so many ppl think Marquez beat him in both fights why not give him a rematch?

as to who eh could fight, Marquez, Mosley, Berto, Judah. all guys his size or smaller since all of a sudden everyone that poses a threat to him is too big.

arguably Manny lost against Marquez in their 2nd fight, many thought so. Also, Morrales beat Manny in their first fight and it's fair to say both Morrales and Barrera weren't prime anymore. Marquez is really the only fighter that was prime and worthy at the same time for Manny.

besides the judges I don't think you'll get an argument from anyone who say both fights that Marquez won both and easily.

no one is debating Pac's place in history under super light weight.  it's the BS going on at 144 - 154lbs

ES already spoke about his label mate and his BS fights as of late.

bernard hopkins " I will never let a white boy beat me" is racist asshole and his opinion on Pacquiao is biased because he think that black boxers are alwais superior to boxer of other races.
Hopkins and roy jones are the most overrated middleweight champions in history because were fighting in one of the worst era of the division when there was no oppositions and both of them were exposed once they faced and lost with joe calzaghe a light puncher with a good hand speed but not a great at all.
Hopkins was losing a middleweight fight with a blown up oscar de la hoya until oscar took a dive after been hit by a misterious body punches of hopkins in one of the most suspect ko since Ali vs Liston 2.
Imagine if hopkins and roy jones were fighting in the 70 or the 80 and they had to face Monzon or Hagler, hopkins and roy jones would never become world champions. They were lucky to be fighting with that mediocre opposition at the time just like the Klitschko brothers are lucky to be fighting in the heavyweight division now!
This clip show what kind of racist hopkins is:
