AR's are better machined, precision rifles with much greater accuracy, where as an AK-47 is more of a utilitarian type weapon that can be buried underground for a year, dug up and fired with no problem. An AK is not as accurate as an AR but has a much greater stopping power because it uses a 7.56 round as opposed to a 5.56 that the AR-15 uses.

  The AR-15 is the commercial version of the military M-16 assault rifle. This was the standard rifle the U.S military used in Vietnam. As for why the AK-47 is superior, well, the M-16 and AK-47 were matched in Vietnam and the AK-47 was superior. It jams a lot less than the M-16 and has a better recoil.

it's 7.62 round , and AR's are made in a very wide range of calibers including a 7.62

the barrel twist for the AK is all fucked up for the grain of round shot out of a AK making it very unstable....you can literally see a AK round floating in the air at 300yards...the barrel twist is that fucked up....but still a solid weapon for close up...

the AR has all the bugs worked out...the AR used during vietnam cant even be mentioned because it isnt even the same rifle anymore.....with match grade ammo(75-77grain SMK) world title 1000yard matches have been won...

the winner?.....the AR is clearly the more versatile weapon...the AK is no punk.....but it was designed and produced in 1947.....it was left behind...the ar/m16 evolved and the AK really didnt..

for starters...ammo type, barrel rifling, barrel length...etc, etc.

barrel length really doesnt have a whole lot to do with it in the case of a battle rifle...
