I wonder if these jammers will work if the car is turned off and how this is going to work.

I'm not for big government intervention but this shit is a serious issue. What else are they to do just sit by and what people get killed because of tech, or have cops on the road burdening people will cell phone checks etc. This makes sense. It's unnivasive and mostly fair. The high ways are a no phone zone, not complicated, there goverment paid for in the first place this isn't like it's someone's private home, it's the people roads and people are dieing.

I'm against all government intervention, but I would like to see cell phones taken away from drivers.  It use to be that if the person in front of you was driving erattic, they were probably elderly or maybe drunk.  Now, 9 times out of 10, they're on their cell phone, so it's a huge danger.

Like I said earlier, I'm really torn on this issue.  I do agree, it's bullshit, but I can't tell you how many times I've almost been hit by some dumb bitch on a cell phone not paying attention.  The drivers in LA are bad enough as it is, add cell phones to the mix  and you have incidents like the one with Brandi a few years back where she rear ended a guy and killed him while texting on her phone.

We are in America, and are supposed to have FREEDOM and CHOICE. Now, IF this is indeed as serious an issue as you claim it is (I don't think it is, based on the studies I've seen in various media and online, and my own personal experience.... but admittedly, MO has a let less traffic and people than CA), and it DOES prove to be a serious enough issue to merit legislation, then let private industry, innovation, entrepreneurship, and intelligent individuals come up with solutions, and put it to a VOTE.  It should NOT be rammed down our throats by an out of control draconian administration that is hellbent on taking away our freedoms.
