Contracts don't mean much these days. For almost all musicians, money is made by ticket and merch sales via touring.
Yeah but those percentages are based on your promotion deals. Labels make huge profits off locking down venues, radio promo's, etc. This is why I hate labels they got there hand in everything it's like dealing with the mob. They pinch at all ends fucking up the industry.
Most artists I know prefer to go the Indie route. More money stays in-pocket. The days of the corporate run labels are numbered thanks in no small part to the internet. God bless it.
