I dont know if anyone else has spend any amount of time reading (studying) at star bucks.  Because of those bastards i have a severe head cold/fever right now. I know i shouldn't be posting here but FUCK me this needs to be said and maybe more people will go complain on their website....

....i noticed them starting to do this around 3 months ago....when  they'd see too many people studying in there (its in a college town) they'd turn up the music to the point that you'd hear it even with ear plugs in.

recently ...about 2 months ago they had started turning the temperature down also...you'd feel the AC come on and you'd literally see everyone in there put their jackets on...but it hasn't stopped there...they turn it down till you r shivering inside your jacket. Eventually the crowd of regulars decreased except me and my buddy...we really dont have anyone else to go at 6 am in the morning...and today they won...they finally FUCKING got me sick...3 hrs i shivered my ass off before i finally left instead opting to drive an hour away to study in a more comfy spot...but the damage is done...i'm fucking sick

But what purpose is the chairs. Do people really come in there, buy coffee, sit down, drink entire coffee cup as fast as they can while doing nothing, and immediately leave after drinking the coffee? Is this the majority of customers? I don't think you can judge the customers lingering in coffee shops the same way you can as if it was a fast food place or a sitdown restaurant or something. Having open chairs doesn't really affect customers for a coffee shop does it? Aren't most customers just walk-ins and then leave?

i dont really like coffee..its a means to an end....there is another star bucks close to the college campus but  its paid parking...a quarter gives you 10 mins...i could go on campus and study but its $15 parking for the day...in addition to the $20 or so i spend of food etc being out...

this particular starbucks and the ones in the area other than the one almost on campus do the whole music and AC thing...its the same manager...

as buddy of mines wifey used to work for star bucks and she told us some managers r encouraged to get rid of lingerers....on average i do around 1 cup of chai or redeye every 2 hrs...but most people just sit there...the managers i hear r encouraged to get rid of "sitters"

I just don't understand the point of getting rid of sitters. It's not a sit down restaurant. Profit does not depends on empty chairs. I would drink coffee if I could handle it but since having my gall bladder out, I can't have any caffeine, which sucks for studying and classes. So I sit here for 10 hour stretches at a time studying before getting around 4-5 hours of sleep per night (that's what I'm doing right now), but most of the time I get distracted by posting on getbig

I just don't understand the point of getting rid of sitters. It's not a sit down restaurant. Profit does not depends on empty chairs. most of the time i'm here at home putting in 14 hr days in my lab...right now it just so happens that i need to read 2 new books so i'm doing that OUT of my house...its a nice change...and yes i agree...i dont see a reason to get rid of the sitters...plus whether i need it or not...out of obligation i buy SOMETHING there every 2 or so hours...even if its a damn bagel or one of them crappy sammiches....

ps..i've built my tolerance to coffee even though it tastes bitter n nasty....cause spending 3 bucks on coffee every 2 hrs is better than 5 on a fancy drink

They have one here in the Barns and Noble. It's always packed with students. It may as well be a library as you see people in there or out in the book store part on the couches sleep, surfing the web or reading the books for the most part.

try ..i'm there around when they open at 5:30 am and i leave at 4 pm at which point i can park on the college campus for free and go to a library there

i can honestly say...if i could pay $25 a day(15 hrs..6 am to 9 pm )....to go someplace to have maybe  4 cups of tea thru the day....be allowed to discuss technical problems with my study partner, without someone hushing me and have no music and a comfy temperature..be allowed to leave for lunch and come back..and it not be my home or anyones...i'd never see the insides of a star bucks again...

the public library dont even open till 10 am and sometimes 1 pm here
