Fuck Islam.  A friend of mine that believes in Jesus once told me that if Christ did all that Mohammed did, he wouldn't be a Christian.  Me?  I'm an atheist but if I ever wanted to believe in something it would be the goodness of what Jesus spoke of. How come nobody ever wonders why there are so many religions out there to begin with?  Thats because there is no such thing as the "right" religion.  I have no problem telling people that I have absolutely no fucking clue whats really out there.  I am just not blindly going to have "faith" in something that my human brain can't comprehend in the first place.  When I die, If there is a god. I know he will judge me based on the life I have lived.  I know i'm a good person with morals.  I don't need a book some guys wrote 2000 years ago to tell me that.

Your simplifying religion to just being about beliefs, christianity had a large effect on western culture, you can't just sum it up to religion. Just look up the church influence, on the western roman empire and how it influence philosophy at the time, it's a legacy that goes beyond just a book.

oh religion has it's place.  The Bible, the Koran etc...  are the greatest stories ever written.  They have kept the world largely in check for a few thousand years.  It's the fear of the unknown.  Imagine if everyone knew that there was nothing after they died.  No Heaven if your good, no Hell if your bad.  The world would devolve into complete chaos where it would be widescale rape, and pillage without fear of consequences in the after-life.
