w8m8, I'll respond to your post to include Swede also.  See, I don't see it as ANY different, because people know when they are too sleepy to get behind the wheel, unless they are narcoleptic (sp)....so they do make a conscious decision to drive and therefore are putting people at risk around them.  Its a personal repsonsibility thing to me.  Of course many American drivers are so horrible, I'm not sure it matters.

Swede, what you said was my point....they are both horrible and should be punished.  I just think the attitude of somehow one is worse than the other is misplaced.  And the only reason I bring it up is because, at least here in the states, people are just given a ticket when they do fall asleep and cause an accident, so they are free to repeat the stupid behavior, where a DUI and they are taken off the roads.  It's a bad double standard.

But lets be clear, I'm not excusing either one, as they are equally stupid and life threatening.

thanks for that .. I am a little closer to one instance than the other so I will concede that to a point my feelings on it may be more emotionally biased .. I may have been able to settle things in my head a lot better if I knew my Dad just fell asleep .. knowing he was drunk makes a helluva lot of difference to me and always has :-[

Germans were excellent drivers.  They take it VERY seriously.  I remember asking one of them why their car didn't have a cup holder and he was so surprised....."You are supposed to be driving, not drinking a soda..."  And they had a much longer process to get a license than we do.
Germans are pro, there pretty much the master race :d no joke, man there good with money health everything impressive culture for sure.

How the fuck do you test for tiredness, there is direct test for alcohol. It's not subjective, everyone's blood alcohol rates are the same, you may drink more, but your blood alc goes to the same level.

This is why doing shit for weed or sleep it makes no fucking, sense, you can't proove that shit, it's way to subjective. Someone like xerxes always looks sleepy, someone like me looks full on 24/7, you can't tell, I can be super alert one moment that faith out of exhaustion the next, everyone's different when it comes to sleep.

Calm down dyslexia.....I wasn't talking about testing, I was talking about IF someone is involved in an accident and the cause is found to be tired, or drinking, the punishment should fit the crime.  They are both making a conscious decision to operate a vehicle when they shouldn't.  Same as with some OTC drugs that warn you not to operate equipt/drive while on them.  They don't make you "high" but they impair your ability.....see the similarities?

I'm truly sorry to hear that.  And can totally understand where you are coming from, when it's personal, it can be different.  and I really am not trying to fight/argue with anybody on this subject, I just think people need to open their eyes a bit.

agreed.... every single weekend night in the united states there are probably literally a million people on the roads who have been drinking, if not more. and of those millions there are probably only a handful which die or cause deadly accidents.

statistically speaking, driving under the influence is about as risky as walking across a street.
Its not that, it's hitting parked cars, hitting houses, fucking up yards, swerving into lanes, cars, or police cruisers...or hitting signs, construction sites, more people where I live get stopped for DUIs than sleeping at the wheel. And then combine that with driving while suspended due to a past DUI, or a driving w/o a license, that Latinos from certain countries like to do---while drunk...you have a whole combo of problems. Then there are those who like to drive while on drugs and intoxicated, and then fuck up your shit...abd let's not get into the drinking colleges...

It's really sad when the sole survivor of any DUI wreck is the drunk who caused everything.

and this is not a racist statement, if you are white. Consider that of the total number of estimated prison rapes:

- 13% involved white inmates raping white inmates

- 29% involved black inmates raping black inmates.

- 56% involved black inmates raping white inmates.

This comes to a grand total of 85% of prison rapes being committed by blacks

in no way am I trying to incite anything .. but it is different to me

sitting in a bar or at a friends house drinking in excess is a choice made knowing that what you are doing is impairing your abilties and senses.. there's times people are tired and don't realize how tired until they fall asleep while they're driving .. one is just as bad as the other in consequences but really the consumation of alcohol is done to "party" and the ramifications are clear as day when you get in your car after that ... being over tired can happen with less realization ... similar to how someone can drift off into a nap in an easy chair
exactly

Because, the drunkiness makes them all loose, whereas normal people stiffen up right before a accident...drunks just bounce around and shit, then the fact the alcohol possibly numbs any injury, delaying shock...

Because  blacks are institutionalized from gens of being arrested for fuck all, they also make up the majority of folk in prisions. It's multi gen prison culture, whites aren't near as absorbed into it they know how to get out of shit especially people like trueadonis(jewness helps for sure)

A few years ago not in my Wildest fucking dreams would i EVER imagine adults reasoning like this. And you wonder why everyone hates americans?

Being very sleepy is ofc extremly bad and should also be punished.

Get back to me when some drunk asshole rams into your car killing your kids and leaving you alive.
You piece of shit. If I believed in god I would pray that you get cancer and die a slow and horrible death, maby in lucky enough that it runs in your family.

calm down tiger

if you look at the raw numbers, you will find it is not the instant death horror you've been conditioned to think by sensationalist stories the news loves to report on.

texas for example was designed around the car. there is no subway or train, and the cities are spread apart wider than your dad's butthole. 99% of the population has to drive to get Anywhere.

obviously one should not be operating a vehicle if they are stupid drunk...thats just common sense..but the FACT IS is that EVERY FUCKING DAY esp. weekends there are MILLIONS of people who drive after having had several drinks...and on a daily basis, more than 99% of them 'manage' to get home ok ::)

for every ONE story you hear of an accident involving someone who was drinking, there were like 980,000 people that same day who did not kill someone.

I'd rather drive with someone who's been drinking than with a woman who is chronically texting behind the wheel. Although we will never hear the true numbers of people who will end up dead because of people texting while driving(hard to prove), but for sure it will end up killing way more motorist than drunk drivers.
