Diet
« on: December 02, 2010, 04:35:19 PM »
It literally don't mean sh!t as far as making improvements in strength and size, fat-loss and looking Adonis-like. TRAINING IS THE END ALL BE ALL IN THIS REGARD. (excluding chemical enhancement of course) So what is the "root" of this near obsession many have with "diet"? Does it come from people looking to make a fast buck? (supplement companies, and/or mass food producers) Yeah, there is some point about having a "healthy diet" but even that isn't necessary for Adonis-like looks or improved size and strength.

It depends on where you start...Fat? Thin? Average?
Natural? Juiced?
And yes, what you eat and how much is very important...even more than training...

Even if you're all drugs you have to do what in order to grow?  Eat, eat, eat...

I've seen plenty of people sling weight around with shitty form but they were on boat loads of drugs and ate alot....so they grew...

I would split it up like this:

Genetic response to drugs: 35%
amount/type of drugs: 30%
amount/types of food: 20%
training: 15%

Natty

Training:  55%
amount/type of food:  40%
supplementation: 5%

Of course man, if you didn't eat anything at all you would rapidly lose size and strength, but what I'm trying to say is that many people seem to be in fear that if they don't eat the exact ratio of pro/carb/fat, and in some more extreme cases, chicken breasts, egg whites, veggies, that they are fvcked. And what I'm trying to say is that is total nonsense, and it isn't true.

I somewhat agree. Diet is overrated for natural lifters.

But it is definitely essentially to get plenty of calories and protiens.

Some guys go overboard. Counting carbs, protiens and fats, taking lots of supps, etc. This is overkill. You just gotta eat a few good, balanced meals everyday and consume a decent amount of protien.

So why do many guys seem to be brainwashed about this? Is it because it's Big Business for the supp companies, and that's how they stay rich? I read where someone made a point that it goes even beyond the supp companies to mass food producers ie. Dairy, poultry, beef, etc.

 We're talking about natural lifting.

Those 5 blue stars you got under your screen name mean you aren't a natty lifter.

Correction wes, diet is 100% of the equation, but that is only if one doesn't train. But... If one doesn't train, then say good-bye to having an Adonis Bod, or being strong and muscular.

the training stimulus and the recovery (including nutrition) go hand in hand 50/50, they are both as important as the other. of course, drugs will change your recocery rate.

Biggest mistake natural lifters make is OVEREATING!

"Lifting big and eating big" is a disaster for most natural guys.

I overrate like a madman at first, but since I started off at 8% I didn't mind a little fat gain along with all the muscle.

Getting too fat now though...  :-\

Speaking as a meso/endo type, gaining size/strength is 90% training - I have gained on high protein, low protein, high carbs, low carbs etc.  But leaning out is 90% diet (non ridiculous amounts of cardio has almost no effect for me)

Good post Ares, I wholeheartly are with the 1st part of your statement, but I'm in disagreement with the 2nd part. And when I speak of "diet" I'm talking about when one worries over eating every 3 or 4 hours, taking in enough protein, and not eating much "bad fats" and what I'm saying is dat stuff is a load of horsesh¡t! Even regarding protein, I had a world-class powerlifting friend that weighed bout 275 and the dude was only taking in roughly 80 grams of protein a day, and he still had his 700+ bench press intact.
