2001 540i with the sport package here. They have problems with the cooling system, but once you get that taken care of (if you haven't already bought one that's been rectified), the car is GOLDEN.

Drove the new one with the sport package, IMO, drives like shit, not what a BMW is suppose to drive, felt like driving a 7 series and steering was off. Hopefully with the new M package it corrects all that..... Or just wait for the new 4.4 V8 TT M5 coming next year.

Great car... sheer driving enjoyment!  What's not to like?  If you can afford it, buy it!  You won't be sorry. 8)

the 5 series has always been the heart of BMW, as far as their most reliable cars are concerned

great cars, good size, good engine size, nice interiors (bmw is catching up to audi again, hehe)

too small for a 6-6 ice giant like me

also styling since 2000 makes it look like nissan or toyota

e34 Never liked the look. It looks just old after the e39 comes out.
e39 still a nice & elegant car. Some minor technically issues, but that's normal for an older car.
e60 actually looks like a Nissan. Don't get one from 03/04. It's lighter than the e39. beside the look a good car.
f10 better looks than e60 but way to heavy

Way more spacious than a 3 series. Better car all together. Drives smooth and has pep under the hood. Good car provided one can afford it.

Best car I ever owned. Don't know if I'd own it off-warraty however. No problems, but very complex technically. I had an 01 525 previously that was great until the electrical gremlins came on.

Very comfortable, great milage (better than whats on the window sticcker, fyi)...

x2.  For driving enjoyment the order is

1. BMW
2. Audi
3. MB

Out of warranty expenses however can be costly.  If this is a big concern for you do not buy a german car.

No, my washing machine is in my guest house, across my private lake, next to the tennis courts.

Why would you spend another 20 grand on a car that offers the same performance as a VW?

The thing with BMW, Mercedes, etc...is you're paying for the name, not the performance.  Some of these cars perform well, but are just overpriced.
Or even get another car, then chip it.  More performance, for half the price...all with good interior.

Much like anything, these cars rely on their brand name to warrant the price.  German cars are well built, no questions on that.

This is the best BMW car to date:

I also like the M3, still, the M6 looks way better, at least for me. But I don't like the 5 series design of the recent years at all. It's a nice driving experience, but the design really kills it for me.

Oh yeah, that guy was so cool, I remember him.

Last I heard, he moved into a mansion full of sex slaves and unlimited supplies of cocaine and weed. Living the good life.

Oh really?  I bet the owner of said mansion is tearing his butthole to pieces, but of course Ship probably loves that.  Im honestly not that surprised to hear hes a sex slave now.

Look good, but the M6 has a cramped interior.  Like the X6 it is big on the outside and small on the inside.  If you're 5'5 it is great but if you're man-sized it is a bad option. :(

BMW could take a lesson from VW.  The Jetta is a small car with a huge interior and VAST legroom! :)

Yea, but it's a Jetta. VWs are for hippies and college girls.

Cool kids drive BWM.

Bay, what year is yours?
