Sucker punching only means that you start it while the guy isn't paying attention to you. Which, to me, are pretty bad offenses.

works for me.

Your objective should always be to make it home unscathed.

Fact of the matter is this- in a "street fight" there are no rules (so to say) and I don't get how men get in a tizzy when someone throws a "sucker punch"

in my eyes, it is better to get the jump on someone and catch them totally off guard rather than end up in a hospital.  If you can land a punch, knock out a dude and avoid humiliation then better off for you, no?

Btw, I'm not trying to posture myself as some sort of "internet tough guy" who "gets in a bar fight every other week".  I'M NOT- I haven't been a legit fight since I was in high school.
However, I keep on hearing about how sucker punches are against the "man code/bro code".  That just sounds dumb

Ultimately, getting your ass beat or looking like a punk is against this supposed "man code" more that catching a guy off guard with a shot to the face

Street fights are about winning not about rules

man code operates under the assumption that both parties observe the 'rules.' If you pull a bitch move (sucker punch, ball shot, hair pull, eye gouge) but the other guy doesn't, then you automatically lose your man card i.e. you're a bitch.

so, maybe I made a mistake in my initial post

is punching someone first if you anticipate a fight considered a "sucker punch" even if they didn't "put up their dukes"?

again, the operative words are "you anticipate a fight"

No.

It makes you a smart fighter in that situation.

If I "know" it is going to get violent, might as well get the first shot in. ;D

Agreed.  It's a true act of cowardice...anyone "legit" doesnt need to hit someone when they're not looking, or from behind, etc.....

The ultimate act of some clown knowing the'll get their ass beat if its a fair fight....or the other guy actually knows he even in a fight.

 Sucker punches are for cowards.

When a fight is on I say anything goes, but it's at least gotta be a fair start.

In the wild west shooting someone when they weren't looking was considered the ultimate bitch move. Sucker punching is the same thing.
