Well, looks like Jay's appearance schedule is in limbo ever since the Sweden incident as taken from his website.

    This is Jay Cutler from Las Vegas.

    I understand you have a packed house at the Fitness Festival in Gothenburg today.

    Let me tell you this; I would have loved to be there and guestpose for you.

    But; as you know, this week Toney Freeman was taken by the police in Sweden and brought in for questioning.

    I have talked to Toney. He says that this happened just because he is a professional bodybuilder.

    If this could happen to Toney Freeman, it could clearly also happen to me as the current Mr Olympia.

    Having seen how this damaged Toney Freeman via the internet, I simply could not risk to experience the same.

    So, based on advice given to me here in the US, I decided that I could not come to Sweden this time.

    I know that I have dissapointed many of you. I am disappointed myself for what has happened.

    But please try to understand my situation and what would have happened if I had received the same treatment as Freeman experienced.

    If you do not understand me, I hope you can forgive me.

    I know that the organisers have been working hard to bring in other guest posers.

    Some of the guys you will see, may even be the future Mr Olympia some day.

    But I will tell you this; none of them will beat me next September here in Las Vegas. Because I will take my 5th Mr Olympia title and be in my best shape ever.

If I bought steroids over the counter in a country where they're legal, used them there, and then flew to Sweden I'd get arrested?!  Without having purchased or used any steroids in Sweden?

Surely not.

It depends on how big you are. They need to think you have it in your body to arreset you. The cops go into gyms in Sweden to test big guys. If you are huge and not natural don't go to Sweden.

Yes, I would.  I've been to Sweden three times in my life and I'd go again (but only in the summer.)

Targeting "big" bodybuilders, and of course a 6'2 280 pound black bber sticks out like a sore thumb, Abe the fact that he was on flyers stating where he was signing autographs...

well if the definition of probable cause is "a reasonable belief that a person has committed a crime" then I don't think it's unreasonable for somebody to believe that a top pro bodybuilder has committed a crime.

it looks to me that the Police did not have any intention to charge him or lock him up but just wanted to use the opportunity to send a message to all the Swedish fans and gym members at the event. The police probably couldn't care less what people from other countries do in other countries, but if their mandate is to discourage and scare Swedish people from taking steroids, harassing bodybuilders in public, raiding gyms, etc could be an efficient strategy.

Should that be the police's mandate rather than chasing real criminals ? Probably not.

Why? Because he is a bber? In the states that is a lawsuit, you don't stop somebody based on you think they are a criminal...

For instance, I have been stopped for "driving while black", basically profiling...it's annoying....
But, a cop cannot stop and arrest you for no probable cause, meaning that there has to be a legit reason (license suspended, taillights out, etc)

being a bber, is not a crime, And making him submit to a blood test is beyond unreasonable...he admitting to smoking weed in another country, not there, he had it and steriods in his system, but he wasn't under the influence of weed, so he wasn't high, which I'm guessing would be a crime.

They will get an court order to draw blood and if you fail they will revoke your drivers licence, so good guess and you will not be allowed to goin any gym that is in their system.

It's not effective to make people 'already in the lifestyle' to stop doing steroids. I know a few who got busted in recent raids and not one of them stopped doing steroids. A couple with a lot to lose went off for a couple months. But steroid addiction is strong and even those few figured, "fuck it, let them bust me again, I'm going to do what I want to do".

Martin Kjellstrom who said he learned during his incarceration that family is what's important was busted again after getting out, during trial, for steroid possession.

It just makes life more stressful but no hormone addict is going off because of cop harassment.
