This is the same as President Palin calling in GWB to explain a policy becaus Todd was waiting in the car to go to a snowmobile race.

Absolutely pathetic.

Hillary was right (Behind O's woes)
NY Post ^ | December 10, 2010 | Jonah Goldberg

When President Obama came un glued like a papier-mache doll in a steam bath during his press con ference this week, I thought perhaps it might be because he lost an old argument with Hillary Clinton.

But yesterday, when Obama hauled out Bill Clinton -- Hillary's No. 1 political ally and, secondarily, her husband -- I was sure of it.

It's largely forgotten now, but during their lengthy primary battle, the two committed liberals' greatest disagreement wasn't over policy or their shared disdain for George W. Bush. It was over their different visions of the presidency.

In a Nevada debate, Obama admitted that he wasn't a particularly organized person. But that was OK because a president's core role shouldn't be organizational but inspirational: "It involves having a vision for where the country needs to go . . . and then being able to mobilize and inspire the American people to get behind that agenda for change."

Pshaw, responded Hillary Clinton, the president is really a "chief executive officer" who must be "able to manage and run the bureaucracy."

This disagreement was symbolized by their respective role models. Obama likened himself to Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy, inspirational leaders who led through rhetoric. Clinton sided with Lyndon Johnson, the guy who spun the shining words into actual legislation and got it passed, often on a bipartisan basis.

This Was The Worst Day Of Obama's Presidency (the strange handoff)
Business Insider ^ | 12-10-10 | Joe Weisenthal

It will either go down as the day that the Obama officially became a lame duck, or the day that Obama hit the bottom, and had nowhere to go but up.

But either day, it's the worst.

*snip*

The tax deal is falling apart, and on this sinking ship Obama is going down with... the Republicans?

Obviously it took a series of mis-steps to get into it this badly. Negotiating with Mitch McConnell without gauging the temperature of Democrats was idiotic. Beyond that, Obama gave up all his bargaining chips before sitting down.

*snip*

But instead he used that up before this began, without anything in exchange.

And there's your Presidency. No political capital, overshadowed by a former President and by the farthest left member of the Democratic caucus in the Senate.

Obama abdicates to Bill Clinton, lunacy
By JOHN PODHORETZ

Last Updated: 5:08 AM, December 12, 2010

The surreal week in Washington was brought to a fitting climax on Friday when Barack Obama handed the presidency over to Bill Clinton for 20 minutes. “I’m going to take off,” he said.

“You’re in good hands,” the president informed the press corps, patting his predecessor on the back. And take off the president did.

It wasn’t an official, unofficial or illicit transfer of power in any way, of course. But it somehow felt like it.

What happened here has, to my knowledge, never happened. When the president finishes speaking, whenever the president finishes speaking, the event ends. Period.

Not any longer.

President Obama can change the rules of etiquette governing his White House if he wants. The problem for him is that those rules of etiquette exist for a reason. They are intended to enforce the standing of the presidency itself. By breaching them, Obama did harm to his own standing, and at a time when he can ill afford to lose any more of his authority.

What’s more, by doing so, he overshadowed the purpose of his joint appearance with Bill Clinton by letting Bubba hold court. And hold court Clinton did, in a revelatory monologue masquerading as a press availability.

Like many retirees trying to stay active, he’s apparently taking classes. He says he spends “an hour a day trying to study this economy. And I’m not running for anything, and I don’t have a political agenda. I just — I try to figure out what to do.”

You see, “I’m out of politics now,” he said, only moments after declaring he had done “133 events” for Democratic candidates in 2010. And asked if he preferred kibitzing inside the White House to running things, Clinton said, “Oh, I had quite a good time governing.”

He even seemed to suggest that, had he defended the Democratic position in 2010 more effectively, his party would have done better at the polls.

“I don’t think I did a good enough job in this election season, obviously,” he said, a statement that initially sounds self-critical but which, at second glance, indicates that the depths of Clinton’s narcissism simply cannot be fathomed.

He even turned a question about whether he had been contacting Democrats to support the tax deal into a “there aren’t enough hours in the day” moment.

“As soon as the election was over, I took my foundation trip to Asia,” Clinton related. “I just got back from the West Coast, doing my annual trip out there . . . I flew overnight to get here today. And I have to leave again tonight . . . He asked me to come down today, because he knew I was going to — Hillary and I were appearing before the Brookings Saban Forum on the Middle East tonight.”

In case you were wondering whether he’s busy or not.

The whole business was simultaneously soporific — I had forgotten how boring Clinton could be when talking about policy — and riveting as a piece of political theater.

What was Clinton doing there, exactly? Could it be news to anyone that Clinton would support the deal, especially since it seems to come straight from the his political playbook? Not to mention that, let’s face it, Obama is his wife’s boss.

The event gobsmacked the political class. On Twitter, ABC News political director Amy E. Walter wrote, “Obama just ceded the podium to Clinton. This. Is. Awesome.” Christina Bellantoni of the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call used the same punctuation trope: “This is Un. Real.”

Washington froze in wonder at this momentary trip into the past. The sheer strangeness of the sight of Clinton alone at that podium crystallized the sense that the American political system (or more specifically, the Democratic party) had spun out of control over the course of the week.

The week began with the announcement of the grand budget deal on Monday, triggering rage from Obama’s base that he had somehow “caved” to Republicans — conveniently forgetting that the Democratic party in DC had been decimated only a month earlier in the midterm election.

That led to Obama’s angry comparison on Tuesday in that same room of the Republicans with whom he had negotiated the deal as “hostage takers.” And after he was done with them, he turned to his fellow left-liberals, lecturing them on the costs of their own “sanctimony.”

On Friday, down the Mall from the White House inside the Capitol, came the weird effort to restage the climax of “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” with a Brooklyn-accented Vermont socialist playing James Stewart’s part.

Bernie Sanders launched a one-man filibuster against the tax deal. The problem was that Sanders had no legislative or political strategy to derail it. Instead, he just talked and talked. An hour after Clinton had finished his psychodrama, Sanders concluded his 8 hour, 32 minute peroration. “I would yield the floor,” he said, and did. I guess we know what Passover is like at the Sanders household.

The budget deal will surely go through, and the events of the past week will be forgotten. But Obama’s cavalier handling of the institutional prerogatives of the presidency will leave it a little less grand, making his own job as he goes forward a little bit harder — and, through the entirely avoidable self-inflicted error, making himself seem a little bit smaller.

Clinton, Obama Meet to Quell Left's Rebellion
Vision To America ^ | December 10, 2010 | Staff

President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton, the controversial master of centrist politics in the eyes of the Democratic left, are meeting at the White House Friday afternoon as the administration struggles to kill a growing insurgency among his own party’s left wing.

House Democrats were so angry with the deal between Obama and Republicans to extend the Bush tax that on Thursday they chanted “just say no” during a closed door meeting. They also took a nearly unanimous, non-binding voice vote rejecting the tax-cut compromise.

The faltering White House effort to communicate with members its own caucus reduced some House Democrats to profanity. Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., told TheHill.com: “This is a lack of leadership on the part of Obama. “I don’t know where the f*** Obama is on this or anything else. They’re AWOL.”

Should We Gloat Over Obama’s Childish Behavior? (Who's the real POTUS, Barry or Bubba?)
Pajamas Media ^ | 12/11/2010 | Roger Simon

Bill’s cool and Barack’s an uptight prig.

Cue the laughter. Bring on the guffaws.

But wait — didn’t we already know that?

It’s easy enough for conservatives, libertarians, et al, to gloat about Barack Obama’s recent petulant, child-like performances — at first unable to be even slightly gracious in compromise with Republicans on the tax bill and then, only a few days later, fleeing in panic when Clinton acted the real president, fielding questions with a relaxed authority so surpassing Obama’s it was almost comical.

But there is a bigger reason not to gloat. We are stuck with this odd duck for another two years at minimum and now everyone, the entire world really, knows what he is like. They also know, if they have been paying the slightest attention, the etiology of his behavior: the man never had to face serious adversity until he was elected POTUS. And now he can’t deal with it. He’s the very model of Harry Truman’s famous advice about getting out of the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat. Obama was out of the White House briefing room the second he realized he was being outclassed by Clinton. And, boy, was he ever!

We need a leader and don’t have one. This is extremely bad news for our country, especially now.

What is to be done? Unfortunately, the answer isn’t close to simple even with a real leader. Merely cutting taxes — assuming we do that — may not be nearly enough. And pseudo-stimulus spending, such as has been shamefully added on to this “compromise bill,” will most likely make matters worse. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on our economy, our way of life really. Interest to China alone will soon be enough to bankrupt us.

So what indeed is to be done? Paul Ryan has a prescription that’s a starting point, but even his ideas may not reduce spending fast enough. There is little reason to be optimistic, even with the Tea Party victories. I have just returned from New York and found the situation there similar to California, strongly resistant to change. (A good analysis can be found in the WSJ’s interview with Richard Ravitch — “Gotham’s Savior, Beaten By Albany.”) It’s tempting for some on the right to dismiss this as just New York and California, but these are our two most populous states and comprise a huge percentage of the U.S. economy. Things will not be easily improved without them. In fact, they probably can’t be improved without them. And Illinois too seems out of control.

And we have Barack Obama to lead us. Wow. The Republican leadership had better be strong. Their recent “compromise,” as Charles Krauthammer has shown us, was not inspiring. Color me nervous.

I like the idea of Obama consulting with Clinton (or any former president), but after looking at the clip again, I have to agree it looks pretty bad.  Not sure I've ever seen anything like it.

This was probably the most embarassing yet from bama.

My dad called me up and was astonished by this.

Bama just does not care.  This is the same as his scoop the poop fiasco where he flipped the bird to the people paying 15k to have dinner w him and he jetted after ten minutes.

This whole admn is a complete joke.

Is Obama planning on resigning?
http://www.libradex.com/viewArticle.aspx?id=122 ^

________________________ ________________________ __________

It's a legitimate question. When a President (or any leader) makes intonations that they are bored with their job, are under amazing stress from both parties (feeling like they have no allies), and doling out their basic responsibilities to others...one has to wonder if that leader plans on resigning.

That question should be asked of Obama; I'm sure he and his spokespeople will vehemently deny it. But what is the answer to the question?

Check out this video from Friday: It shows a bored and complacent Obama, after mumbling through some kind of statement about the tax compromise; and then leaving the Presidential Briefing Room chock full of supporters...to Bill Clinton. Former President Clinton, who spoke for a half hour on a variety of subjects: taxes, deficit, credit in the economy, etc. And where did Obama go?

He left because he had to go to a Christmas party put on by his wife.

Does that sound like a man that is truly engaged with the responsibility of being President
?

Obama doesn't know which way to turn: his leftist ways have got him now facing down a hostile GOP Senate who won 63 seats. But moving to the center will assuredly mark him by the "professional left" as a turncoat. He knows he HAS to deal with the GOP or he gets nothing done, the GOP knows this, and will probably get nothing done. His chances at re-election look very slim, given the lingering unemployment issues.

Obama has never been engaged to begin with as President; he's played more golf than Bush (almost double in 2 years what Bush played in 8), and was never engaged in either the health care battle or the financial reform bill. Both of these were driven and legislated entirely by Congress with almost no Presidential input.

What Obama has done is travel (a lot), throw parties (a lot), play golf (a lot), get a Nobel prize (for getting elected?), give a few speeches...and that's about it.

So the concept that Obama might want to throw in the towel is very real. I mean, right now, what is the point for him? He can't pass any more leftist legislation that he can "put his name on", and he really has no ambition other than to become President.

He does't want to "save the world", he doesn't really care.

Obama's clear abdication of responsibility Friday, of leaving an important briefing to a former President (to go to a Christmas party??) and then walking out, shows that he cares little for the minutiae of actually governing.

Expect Obama to be even more disengaged in 2011-2012 as he realizes with a GOP Senate that he's essentially a lame duck President.

Instead of resigning, perhaps he'll just linger on, semi-retired on the golf course while the economy struggles, world politics continue to be dangerous, and we are still continue our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. What kind of parties beat White House parties? Top-notch catering.

But then again, by resigning Obama can retire (he's already made millions off his book) and not deal with pesky things like bothering to run the country.

I mean, this whole governing America thing is seriously cutting in to his golf time.

Have you ever considered talking to some mental health professionals?

Do you think it's acceptable to devote as much of your life to your pathological hatred of the president as you do?

You are absolutely out of control. I've never even see someone hate Bush this much. You've outdone Cindy Sheehan going the other way.

You are so wishy washy its laughable. Either he does nothing but blame and be worthless, or he is hell bent on running the country into the ground with his liberal agenda. Dude what it is? Cuz it cant be both.

But what do you expect from a guy that said.

Obama called Swat on Grandmothers..outside a convention center where President Obama was scheduled to speak. Tea Partiers refused a Secret Service order to move.  The so-called SWAT team was just local police who "briefly marched down the street to clear it for the president's motorcade."

Got a letter sayinf because Obama care his rates were risen by 50% when the documents of the meeting said it was because of Money problems as early as pre 2008

This is the Douche that said Obamas approval world wide is Lower than Bush...

Really? How many times has Obama been compared to Hitler? How many times has the words "Nazi" and "stupid" been used in conjuntion with Obama by Republicans and their supporters.  A lot less times than it was used by Democrats and their supporters during the last 4 years of Bush's presidency.

You "personally" may not know or seen someone within your circle of friends hate Bush. But, it is absolutely clear, that Bush was criticized and demonized much, much more by the media and the Democrats. Compared to Bush, Obama has it easy when it comes to criticism.

Hey, moron. Why don't you look up what this statement was in response to? I am not arguing that Bush was any better. But, to act like Bush was not hated during his second term is asinine. Do you understand now, nitwit?

I remember going to Ozzfest one year and they flashed images of Bush/Hitler while Ozzy was playing.  Lamb of God also wore shirts showing Bushes' face with a hitler mustache, etc etc.

Team Bama is just pissed off becase theynever could have imagined the total failure he is and thought it was trulyt the age of Aquarius with his elecion, "the transformative" POTUS, and all that other tripe.

They were and are dupes and now have nothng left but to make excuses rather than taking responsibility for being suckered so badly.

Exactly.

These idiots fell for it hook, line and sinker. They voted for the incompetent community organizer. They propably even distributed fliers for him and signed up voters.

Now, they state that Bush and Obama are the same. So why did they vote for him in the first place?

Seems like a lot of sour grapes. WE TOLD YOU THAT OBAMA WAS BOUND TO BE A FAILURE!! WE TOLD YOU SO!!
