khan wins.

it's sad that cos he's a paki, he hasn't been embraced by the british public. that's why he's based himself in the states. apart from the pakis and real boxing fans, nobody gives much of a shit about amir khan

That's sad, Ignorance.

Very entertaining fight. Would love to see Maidana again.  Was funny when Merchant asked him if he wants a rematch, he was like I don't give a F, "i wanna fight anybody who wanna fight". Besides, no way Kahn gives him a rematch.

Watching that fight, I rememeber how upset de la Hoya was when he worked with Roach, saying he didn't give him good instructions and he had the wrong fight plan.  He doesn't have to make adjustments w/Manny because manny is very good and the talent he's chosen to fight is way beyond their prime and after someone else has exposed them.  That combined with the horrible instructions or lack of instructions he gave to kahn. Never addressed the uppercut and overhand right Maidana was landing all night, or to go back to the body after the 1st.  If Manny fight Floyd he better get a new trainer cause he'll need to make ALOT of adjustments. just saying

No. This kid got millions and huge mainstream exposure being of pakistani descent. Someone like Froch, who has fought top ten opponents in his last five or so fights is not even known in the mainstream. Being an ethnic minority is a huge meal ticket in the U.K.

He moved to America because of Roach, Goldenboy and a bigger potential market after already being known in the U.K.

Stop talking shit.

I agree - I think Khan is actually relatively popular in the UK - I've heard one or two people say he's ultimately not that good but he's improving all the time and persevering. The knockout against Breidis Prescott was a low point and he lost a bit of support after that but to go to Vegas and win the way he did last night shows the kid has some heart. Besides, he's still very young - only 24 I think. I don't think he's good enough to beat Mayweather yet and definitely not Pacquiao but a few more good results like last night and he's going to be a serious contender to beat these guys.

His brother is a whiny little prick.

With big exposure there is always negative aspects. If you want all of the perks, then you have to be strong enough to take a bit of criticism.

I think the Prescott loss humbled him a little, before that he was a touch arrogant and some people didn't react well to it.

I didn't like how the referee was clearly helping Khan when Khan was tying up one of Maidana's hands, and Maidana didn't seem to have a problem connecting with his free hand.
The ref was allowing Khan to get his legs back by seperating them.
If anything, Khan should have gotten warnings for excessive holding of the arms.
Further, Khan broke a cardinal rule of boxing, NEVER TURN YOUR BACK TO YOUR OPPONENT, and then complained that Maidana hit him in the back of the head.
Some shifty shit was amiss last night.

Che, I have some background in boxing, and there were some suddle things that happened last night that were downright bullshit.  Maybe not if it were only one or two things occurring, but in toto, Maidana got the shaft.

Of course, he should have been able to put him away.

One could make an argument that fights have been stopped where less damage was done.  Khan was not trying to punch back at all, but was covering up for extended periods of time, which is usually one of the signals that a fight is being stopped, particularly after the 2nd time he got rocked.

I give Khan credit for not going down though, as he withstood a hell of a beating in the later rounds.

How he was not telegraphing Maidana's looping overhand right is beyond me.  Roach should have had Khan continuously moving to his right to avoid that punch and the uppercuts, and he would not have taken such a beating.  In essence, while Khan may have won that fight, he may have lost in the long run, as he was exposed to some serious punches that could have caused lont-term damage.

People who have never been involved in this sport don't understand long term ill effects.  One needs only to hear/see Meldrick Taylor.

Yep you are right .
About  stopping the fight I don't agree with you  because Khan was  the Champ and he kept moving but he took a beating in the 10th no doubt , Maidana is tough mofo.
