Michael Vick: 'I Would Love To Get Another Dog In The Future'

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said he would love to get another dog in an interview with NBC News and TheGrio.com.

"I would love to get another dog in the future," Vick said. "I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process. I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love and my passion for animals; I think it would be outstanding."

Vick spent 18 months in prison and two months of home confinement after being convicted of running a dogfighting operation. He also served a two-game suspension when he returned to the NFL in 2009.

"If I ever have the opportunity again I will never take it for granted. I miss having a dog right now," Vick explained. "I wish I could. My daughters miss having one, and that's the hardest thing; telling them that we can't have one because of my actions."

Vick has become a star on the Eagles this season, leading them to their current 9-4 record. He has thrown 17 touchdown passes and only four interceptions.

He currently leads the league in Pro-Bowl voting.

The whole driving is a privilege not a right doesn't apply to ownership of property.

But it's not that simple - Courts can limit the rights of convicted felons, including freedom of movement and private possessions.  For example, as a non-felon you have the right to live near or travel onto an elementary school. As a registered sex offender, not so much.  Or take a court restraining order that prevents you from going near someone else even in a public space. Even such a basic right as voting is taken away from felons.

Depending on exactly what Vick was convicted of and the laws of that state, the judge can easily prevent him from ever owning another dog.

Vicks is a sadistic sociopath in my opinion, and doesn't deserve to have even the basic right to own a pet.
