You are 100% correct..If I could solve this, I'd be a rich and successful man....What's worse is knowing this and not knowing what to do to change it... :'( :'( :'(
So I'm left with being an idea-log and book smart but nothing to show for it...My younger brother on the other hand who is not educated and not as intelligent as I makes over 600K per year and he is his only employee but he works ALL THE TIME.
Well at least you know Kai, that should account for something?

Where did he get the starting capital from?

He started really small and the money he initially made, he invested back into the business and kept expanding to what it is today...Everything he did he did it himself...He now owns a sports team also...(not giving details).  Dude is always trying to make business deals and is obsessed with money...He has a wife and 4 kids.  Not saying that's bad, it's just not me.

Why don't we compare wealthy people who went to college vs. wealthy people who did not?

These threads are funny.

I love the "well I know (insert random exception to the rule) who makes millions and they never went to college"!

The fact is this: you are far more likely to become wealthy with a college degree.

In all honesty, I don't know...He was still in the Air Force when he got started and we really don't talk that often now.

Correct.  The instances of people that are successful that didn't go to college are very, very, very small.

The most successfull people never went to college. In college they just reproduce what the super-successfull have implemented in the first place.

Bullshit.

Prove this. I can prove you wrong pretty easily.

Would you consider being a ceo of a major company, the head of a hedge fund or president of the most powerful country on earth, success?

College gives you experience, without the risk. It reproduces what the successful have done, minus the mistakes made along the way.

Name all the hedge fund managers who are making 90 million a year who dropped out of college.

Name all the modern presidents who dropped out of college

For every college drop out billionaire, there are a million multi millionairs.

Remove the major extremes, and think about it.

And this got what to do with college?

If you had founded your own it-company at the time you decided to waste time in college, you now would probably have your own stadium...  :-\
Maybe even own team...

But hey! Good choice  :D

Your own business is the way to go so you dont get caught up in the corporate red tape bullshit.

Depends, then you get caught up in all your own bullshit, and owning a business generally accrues more working hours than working for someone else.

When you first start, you are all channels. Accounting, marketing, sales - etc.

Then if you make it, you hire a bunch of smart college educated fuckers to run your shit for you.

Spot on. People who hit it big after dropping out from college and starting their own ventures are like those that win the lottery - they make the headlines and get a lot of spotlight, but are hardly representative of the success that goes with being an entrepreneur.

You aren't guaranteed success if you are a graduate, but it does give you a lot of options and something to fall back on, when it comes to having a career or just earning a living.

Ok. But the argument is that you are more likely to become rich with a college degree which is true.

Bill gets is an extreme - extreme.

Exactly, Zuckerberg, Gates - all drop-outs.

And for those two dropouts, there are 10 million millionairs who didn't drop out.

The example is a poor one, as the extreme wealth those two have earned is unlikely for anyone to attain, period.

All the college dropouts I know work average jobs making average money. No billionairs.

And how many college graduates you know are billionaires? ;D

You're acting like any college degree holder is automatically hired as 90 mill/yr hedgefund-manager. Being rich and successfull like that is unlikely either way, with or without degree. As realistic as winning the lottery.
