Its the same shit every decade. In 30 years they'll be saying the 00's were the best times ever.
True, but most of the 2000's were shit...everybody is a internet (youtube) star...for one week...so there will be tons of "Do you remember the "Hide your kids, Hide your wife" guy?

the 2000's represent image over substance, and women had more mileage than a 72 Volvo...everybody is jaded, and everybody wants to be "somebody" without putting in the time or work...

Now, you have more of chance of dating someone who has done porn, done a sextape with every boyfriend, than you did in the 80's...as GH15 said, the 80's was possibly the last decade of human innocence...and everybody today is ADHD, ADD, bi-polar, etc, and everybody is on pills for this mess...yeah in 30 yrs, they'll be saying, "WTF was wrong!", or "this is when the US realized it was turning into melting shit..."

Nobody will really remember the 2000's with fondness

i dnt thiink americnaa has even identity anymore,,in the 80s it was more or less also beggining of 90s ,,now its just bunch of foreigns interacting with locals,,everyone know spanish even in north americana many do,,and it shoudl not be that way,,the reason its this way is because the way the americnaa goverment works,,they are VERY VERY SLOW TO RULE THE STATES,,THEY NEED TO DICTATE AND DO IT FAST IN ONE UNION BOTH PARTY ,,FIRST AND FORMOST MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO GIVE A FULL COMPLETE UTTER AMNESTY TO EVERY ILLEGAL RESIDENT OF AMERICANA SO THEY COME OUT OF SHADOW THE ALL 30 MIILON BECAUSE THERE ARE 30 MILLION ATLEAST,,TATS FIRST,,

THEN THE CONDITION FOR THAT SHOULD BE closing the fuckin border with real fence  as much as it cost no matter build it with sensors and do it ireali way which work just do it ,,and put lots of sensors and lots of national guard where there is no fence but fence should be the main idea along the long borders,,so while doing it legalize everyone in americana ,,give automatic work authority to everyone and path to green card even if you do not marry americano because not every one want to marry americano and not every one find love ,,today only the ones who marry americano become fully legal,,so thats that,,SECONDLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY CONDITION THE PERMENENT VIA WITH KNOWING AND SPEAKING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO AN ACCEPTABLE DEGREE,, ACCEPTABLE MEANING ATLEATS BE ABLE TO TALK AMERICAN LIKE GH15 IS DOING ON HERE ON A REGULAR BASIS AND UNDERSTOOD TO THE T ,,

now those shoudl be 2 steps that are must for legalize everyone,,after that when they show complition of english school foro few months and start talking american while at same time building the fence so no more come in in those numbers,,,,thennnnnnnnnn give legal visa to everyone ITS CALLED AMNESTY AND IT IS A MUST MUST MUST STEP INORDER TO SOLVE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL LIKE REAGAN DID BUT TEAGAN DID NOT BUILT FENCE ,,NOW ITS TIME TO DO FENXE SAME TIME AND ONCE AND FOR ALL MAKE AMERICANA AGAIN UNITE THIS IS THE MAIN KEY FOR ATLEAST SAVING AMERICNA IN SOME ASPECT CULTURALLY SO NEW BLOOD COME IN AND TRY TO HELP MAKE IT STRONGER BECAUSE RIGHT NOW ITS SO WEAK ITS BECOMING CATASTROPHIC,,

you will see by the way that everything i wrote above will happen ,,it will just be another couple years of torture and fighting on which party get credit but it will have to be done because americanos became 2 people ,,the shadow ones and the racist ones,,its just not sustainable

The eighties sucked.  Music sucked, clothes sucked, pastels suck, Painters caps sucked. Miami Vice when they moved it to Friday nights sucked.  Only good thing to come out of the eighties was Reagan.

The 80's rocked....pure and simple.  Too many things to name.....then think of the 90's.....oh brother and the 00's.......yikes......kinda depressing for kids today.

Best decade in my lifetime.  Music wise, movies wise, national pride, things were just a hell of a lot better.

Slayer metallica megadeth anthrax bdp ice t run dmc bon jovi motley crue bruce u2 maiden 80's pop, rambo commando red dawn rocky 3 and 4, freddy, great horror movies, great sitcoms, iroc Z, mustangs, monte carlos, baggy pants, girls w big hair, etc.

Great times.   And we also had a president who loved the nation.  We went from morning in america with reagan to mourning in america w bama.

It was just a far better time in many ways.  The fringe elements of society were not as vocal, there was not as much tolerance for traitors in our midst, and the nation had more pride.

And yes, I believe a lot of that had to do with Reagan.  He made the nation feel prouyd of itself, strong, and have a sense of exceptionalism.

What we have now is disgusting.

There is far better music being made now than there was in the 80's.

Turn off the television and radio and do a little searching.

The early and mid 90's were pretty fucking cool too. It started to really go downhill around 96 I think.

Living in the late 60s and 70s would have been fucking AWESOME.

I was a kid in the 60's, went to highschool in the 70's...great fucking times!

you have a hard time coping with the modern world, you re not adapted enough, so you re sinking into nostalgia, what is reassuring and original because you re scared of not being able to adapt to the new world.

Coping with the new world is simple...because everybody is pretending to be somebody else...it's very easy to spot the fools, pretenders, fake thugs, etc...and everybody is soo desperate to be somebody, due to their reality of being nobodies---not getting nurtured at home due to a corrupt childhood...for the past 20 yrs, kids have not had a descent childhood---parents are either gone, divorced, or don't care, or only care about their needs, and or treat kids like their friends. This creates a problem in that the kids minds are not developed correctly...

That is why all this facebook and myspace pics that seemly makes them the center of attention, they are not really...or the constant tweets about inane aspects of their lives that nobody cares about...they seek attention they they didn't get from their parents or from society at large....

Thus, coping in a world where people have no love for themselves, others, yet seek it from others in terms of sex, attention or accomplishments is easy...either you give it or ignore it...

There's so much awesome music out today. Live in the NOW, who gives a fuck about the 80's?

thats the problem,,music is done,,there is no music,,there is screaming of ebonics,,there isabsolutely no melody to song unless they steal some pop hit from the 80s and put it with crap words of a new kind and ruin it complitely,,thats the main problem ,,music is gone,,

reason they live in the 80s is because your generation is detouched from reality,,it is a generation that doesnt know how to play more than 3 chords on a guitar or a piano,,its a generation that write material that back in 80s woudnt even make top 500 on billboard,,and most importantly its generation that get famous due to facebooks and twisters,,they get famous due to being naked and showing skin on those sites and on internet ...not because of music,,not enough to be pretty boy....you also need to know how to write music and make a good song,,or movie,,etc

the robert deniros of the world,,

the al pacinos of the world,,

the cindy loupers of the world,,

the madona of the world,,

they are all long gone ,,they are disgusted with the situation too so they just let history talk ,,and the result is that even today 20-30 years later you see their music which is more popular than anything you see around now days ,,since now days its not art ....its pure garbage,,

the only reason to think difrently is if you are 16-18 today which put you in a very bad situation since you experienced trush all your life

Reagan was good in many ways, but caring about the environment certainly wasn't one of them. Back when he was Governor of CA they were trying to establish Redwood National Park to stop the lumber companies from cutting the last remaining 2% of old growth left. Reagan's reply: "You seen one redwood, you seen them all"...just one example. And don't forget James Watt, Secretary of the Interior who served under his Presidency. One of the worst environmental rapists of all time, not to mention a racist and religious nut... :(

Most of the best modern music was made between 1960-1980s, by the late 80s when electronics were being used more and mor. And record companies saw that they could commerical music and rape the artists at the same time, the quality went downhill. You cannot ignore this...just like the American Car Industry...it was top notch until the mid 70s, when they failed to adapt to the oil crisis and the Japanese Invasion

I agree that there is tons of good music out, but you have to search for it, and most of it tends to remind one of the older music, or they were influenced by the older music, or use the older music as a template--not talking about the 80s template, but the old skool R&B, blues template.

I just dont agree. Its not very accurate to compare history to modern times. I agree the world is going to shit, mindless drones walking around texting and not having a clue whats going on. etc..

But when you compare 80's music to today, you only pick out the good stuff. But dont forget there was some real garbage out in the 80's.

There are some really talented motherfuckers playing music today.

Since i listen to mostly R&B and slow jams---i check out the Howard university Radio, Morgan St Radio (which has one of the best hip-hop radios in the nation), and 89.3 WPFW a Washington DC station that plays underground hip-hop, Dub, Brazilian and latin...

I check CD Baby for different R&B sounds as well as myspace music and Amazon.com...you have really search, but when you find a gem, it feels worth it...unfortunately in the 60s and 70s you actually had to have talent to get a record deal...now idiots like Souljah Boy can put out albums...
