Actually, only the 14-, 13-, and 12-year-olds got iPhone4s.  The 7-year-old only got an iTouch and the 2 youngest have to wait until next year.

Insanity of the phone purchases aside, who the fuck is going to pay for the service?  If you're a taxpayer, that's right, you are.

Santa brought my 7-year-old an iTouch last year, but she's an only child and her daddy is rich (according to Obama).  And apps are helluva lot cheaper than Nintendo DSi games.

Truthfully, I didn't fully expect her to still have it by this xmas, but she still has it.  I let her know from the moment she got it that it was not to be taken to school and whenever she put it away, it needed to be up on something, never down on the floor.  I also let her know that it was her responsibility to keep it away from her little cousins. 

By following the rules, she's still got it and it's in perfect working order.  Most kids would certainly have lost or damaged theirs by now, you're right.

I know someone who gave their 7 yr old a iPod and a iPhone, they both ended up in the toilet---and when the parents found out, the kid was screaming "iDead"...most parents don't tell them to put it up, and most kids think things like that are replaceable, because they have no real concept of money.
