The articles main point is simply to offer some awareness of the effects and their severity, it's not intended to say you can't ever have fun.
There are a lot of guys and I guarantee you there are quite a few here who eat well, train hard but for the most part stay the same and I'd bet you nine times out of ten alcohol is the culprit.
Nothing wrong with a little fun in moderation but a big night of binging can really set you back.
i think one night a week of binge drinking is probably better than drinking modeeratley 3-4 times a week. in either situation, i dont think its going to effect results much, besides possibly increase fat stores if drinking hgih calorie and not compensating elsewhere in the diet.
i used to think alcohol would really be a gains killer, but that was before i actually tried drinking occasionally and seeing how it effected my progress. nowdays i get drunk maybe 2-3 times per month. no real difference in recovery/strength/growth. in fact i think getting a little beligerant every so often helps keep one in an animalistic mood fitting for lifting heavy ass weights.
