Author Topic: Winter Classic! Canadians weigh in on this!!!!!!!! (Read 3429 times)

Again Pittsburgh is in a Winter Classic and the NHL screws up...again! Why would the NHL schedule (pronounced the canadian way) other games on the day of this festive event? Now they moved it to 8pm because Pittsburgh is getting rain (so are we 52 degrees here) and the NHL has a handful of games starting at 7-7:30. Why wouldn't the NHL have scheduled (pronounced the canadian way) the Winter Classic in Canada this year? They could have had it in Calgary or Edmonton but nope-they keep pushing Sid the Kid. Way to go NHL and Gary Betman-losers!

maybe because nobody in america cares about canadien teams or any of their players

who do you think wants to watch edmonton and calgary other than people in those cities?

sid and ovie are the only players that casual sport fans even know

playing at 8 pm will make the game look even better

There actually is another outdoor game this year. In Calgary Feb 20 against the Canadians.

The NHL is still trying to sell the game to Americans, thus the hype and 24/7 show on ESPN. Nearly every game in Canada is a sell out espeially if the Canadiens are playing but they/re doing 2 for 1's in Florida for the Habs vs Panthers games.

I am inclined to agree with you...I get very tired of the networks trying to push somebody...nobody had to "sell" Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux...and for God's sake...how long will they use this ridiculous "Sid the Kid" moniker? He's not a rookie anymore.

When they have it, go. I went to the one at Fenway last year, and it was the most amazing spectacle i've ever seen.

(Other than the bodybuilding.com Olympia webcasts, of course)

that's why the nhl isn't popular, the league wasn't marketing the stars until sid came along
