Flex Appeal in Mt. Vernon is good, real good.   But the parking is horrendous.   

I used to also train at Powerhouse in the Bronx.   It used to be Ultimate Bodies and was real old school.   Leaking pipes across the ceiling, etc. 


I tell these young punks (I'm 35 y/o), they have no idea how fun it used to be.   It was the early - mid - late 90's into say about 2001 or so.   


Great damn times.   People were more focused on lifting, then "fitness" and bullshit like that.   People werea lot bigger and stronger back then.   Even ow at 35, I make these young fools look stupid and they thik its a big deal to rep 315on a bench, or 100lbs dumbbells on the incline, or squat with clangin plates and more than 225 on the hack squat.   

bitches more interested in ther cell pones and abs than actually lifting.           

       

There used to be so many hardcore gyms, I couldnt decide were to go. Maybee it was just the NYC area, but your right, it was more common to see a guy not benching more then 315. Now I'm shocked to see someone do 225.

Lets also remember that Planet Fitness is not trying to be a hardcore gym...they are inexpensive and trying to get people in the gym who feel threatened by bodybuilders....whether that is right or wrong they have to create their own marketing strategy and I guarantee you that it is pretty effective

Yes, but they don't; they ask for a monthly fee, no strings attached. And not everyone that works out at PF is fat. There is one across the street from the BSC I work out at, and it's filled with college students, and those looking for a cheap place to workout, with little to no restrictions. It's inexpensive; the equivalent to that cell phone provider Boost Mobile.

Most people who workout, have a "cheat meal", once a week...and one would think that is the logic behind pizza night at these gyms. Work hard, and then let loose. Moreover, who gives a fuck? It's not like these people are being tricked.

I miss worlds gym. I thought that was a good gym. I dig BSC and NYSC, as well.

based on these commercials, planet fitness target customer has more than one cheat meal a week


diet is the number one reason people fail to lose weight while going to the gym for years

i trained at bally's for years, the same people that trained hard consistently looked the same year after year because they couldn't stay with a diet due to their own daily "pizza night"

a gym should NEVER have a pizza night, they are supposed to promote clean foods, heck even supplements would be better than high calorie pizza

It is an effective strategy, and I don't mind their desire to get more folks exercising.  My issue with PF, which has been echoed here, is that they are just as "judgmental" as anyone else.  A bunch of fat people making fun of "bodybuilders" is just as "mean" (no homo) as "bodybuilders" making fun of fat people.
