The last memorable songs were probably from the grunge era.  Nirvana, SoundGarden, Alice in Chains.  I will agree that nothing comes close to being iconic in the last 15 years but the 80's were waaaaaaayyyyyy over rated.  At least the bands that you mention.  Kenny Loggins- Footloose......Oh Brother.  ::)

70s music pwns 80s music, it's not even close! Fvck, most 70s groups/singers became MUCH, MUCH worse in the 80s as compared to the 70s! Case in point, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Forginer, Kiss, etc, etc

they were good too,,this is not 70s to 80s they both were very good ,,its nothingness to somethingness,,thats the comparison ,,70s had its own geniouses that went into the 80s and 90s and today stuck with this idiotic generation nothingness,, no wonder george michael quit when he saw what came in the end of the 90s lol

Thought i was the only one who listened to mike and the mechanics. However, i like silent runnings the best. Thought about using it as posing music at one time.

yes i like it better too,,thats what musician shoudl be like ,,thats how you write real music ,,doesnt mean you have to know how to read notes and all be classic trainee,, but atleast know how to right more than 2 chords and have some decent ability to put words and music together so 30 years later someone will remember you ,,

Here's my timeline. Generation nothingness starts to assume power in 20 years. They assume full control during the next 10-15 years. In the next 10-15 years the inevitable decline, which is happening now, is complete. In 40-50 years the Chinese, maybe Russians, rule. My bet is with the Chinese through sheer numbers. Doesn't matter though. What matters to me is no more Americana. But, of course, I'll be dead.

LOL. There are some advantages to being old. Cry me a river, bitches. You only have yourself to blame.

No, it's a wake-up call, so don't act like a silly bitch. When you grew up in the 70-80ties just like me (and prob GH15) you could notice how empty most (s)hit music is nowadays.

It's called the internet and capitalism, in fact its people from your generation behind most of these crap artists trying to make money on little kids, perhaps generation something should look at themselves.

If you listen to real music you don't watch mtv.
Spot on, it's all about the formula (the sound, the boy or girl who actually has no vocal capacities but looks good, the vid and marketing). Yes, it's my generaton behind a lot of this crap, but fortunately I can say that I don't hang out with those false types.

Yeah, there's still a lot of great stuff. In that light the web is a bless. I don't even have a TV, LOL

Yeah behind every Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc there are thousands of talented musicians sending their demos to record companies and not even getting a chance because the 50 year old CEO doesn't think its a "hit" and won't be "popular" enough (meaning profitable). There is a lot of good music out there if you look.

do me a favour friend,,if you want to put somethign genious from your generation and there is not much out of your generation but sometime ya know once in a blue moon and you already put the band that maybe is something in your generation ,,atlest fuckin put the right genious song here ill help you ,,atl;east fight for your generation with the right material,,
enjoy
