Is Donald Trump Punking the Press?
By Garance Franke-Ruta

Salon's Steve Kornacki offers the entire contents of his savings account -- $184.27 -- in a bet that businessman Donal Trump is scamming the press and the Republican Party by suggesting he has interest in running for president. Past is prologue, Kornacki argues:

Please, please, please: Don't fall for any of this. The Donald, in case you've forgotten, has taken us all down this road before, when he spent months flirting with a third party bid for president in 2000. Just like now, he promised to tap his own vast fortune, attracted a torrent of publicity, and fared decently in polls -- around 15 percent in trial heats against Al Gore and George W. Bush. And just like now, he had something to promote: A new book (which came out in January 2000) and, well, the Trump brand. The only difference: Trump was pretending to run as independent, so instead of opposing abortion and giving aid and comfort to birthers, he claimed to be pro-choice and talked up universal healthcare and a massive income tax surcharge for the super-wealthy. When that charade finally came to an end in February 2000, the national chairman of the Reform Party -- whose nomination Trump had claimed to be interested in -- branded the New York plutocrat a "hustler." "Donald Trump came in, promoted his hotels, he promoted his book, he promoted himself at our expense, and I think he understands very fully that we've ended the possibilities for such abuse of our party," Pat Choate said. He added: "All this was, was a serious hustle of the media, and I think the media should send him a massive bill on it."

Donald Trump’s Story
www.shouldtrumprun.com

Donald J. Trump started his business career in an office he shared with his father, Fred, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. He worked with his father for five years, where they were busy making deals together. Mr. Trump has stated, “My father was my mentor and I learned a tremendous amount about every aspect of the construction industry from him.” Likewise, Fred C. Trump often stated that “some of my best deals were made by my son, Donald….everything he touches turns to gold.” Mr. Trump then entered the very different world of Manhattan real estate.

In New York City, the Trump signature is synonymous with the most prestigious of addresses. Among them are the world-renowned Fifth Avenue skyscraper, Trump Tower. Luxury residential buildings include Trump World Tower at the United Nations Plaza, Trump Park Avenue at 59th Street and Park Avenue, Trump Place on the Hudson River, and Trump Palace. In 1997, Trump International Hotel & Tower opened its doors to the world, a 52-story super luxury hotel and residential building designed by the famed architect Philip Johnson. The property is one of only three in the country to have received a double Mobil Five-Star rating for both the hotel and its restaurant, Jean- Georges. In 2008, the 92-story Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago opened and was touted by Condé Nast Traveler as the “hottest new hotel in North America.” The Trump Hotel Collection has projects going up around the world and met with tremendous success.

Mr. Trump is also known as a world-class golf course developer, with award-winning courses in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles (Trump National Golf Clubs), Palm Beach (Trump International Golf Club), Canouan Island in the Grenadines and one in development in Aberdeen, Scotland (Trump International Golf Links) as well as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Mr. Trump is an avid golfer and his passion is evident in the spectacular courses he has developed and continues to develop worldwide. His latest acquisitions are Trump National Golf Club/Colts Neck, N.J, and Trump National Golf Club, Washington, D.C. which fronts the Potomac River for three miles.

As an accomplished and best selling author, Mr. Trump has had numerous best sellers including The Art of the Deal, which is considered a business classic, The Art of the Comeback, The America We Deserve, How To Get Rich, Think Like a Billionaire, Trump 101, Why We Want You To Be Rich, Think Big, Never Give Up, and Think Like a Champion.

In a departure from his real estate acquisitions, Mr. Trump and the NBC Television Network are partners in the ownership and broadcast rights for the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Pageants. In January of 2004, Mr. Trump joined forces with Mark Burnett Productions and NBC to produce and star in the television reality show, The Apprentice. The show quickly became #1 on television and is currently in its tenth season. Mr. Trump’s production company, Trump Productions, is based in Los Angeles. Mr. Trump also had a successful radio program on Clear Channel for several years.

Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story. He has continually set new standards of excellence while expanding his interests nationally and internationally. Mr. Trump is personally involved in everything that his name represents. This commitment has made him the pre-eminent developer of quality real estate known around the world, and in all his endeavors the Trump gold standard is apparent. He is the archetypal businessman—a deal maker without peer and an ardent philanthropist.

At this point - seeing that bolded part - any republican who wants Trump for president doens't give a shit about the positions or issues - they just want a rock star personality.

Trump's casino operations filed twice, I think.  Never trump personally, though.

He kept getting a $2 million paycheck while the company went thru its changes.

But hey, he's gonna change the wall street mentality that Bush/Obama gave us, huh?  ;)

I see.  You said "he" filed.  Now you're saying his businesses and he controls them.  Is he the sole shareholder?  Does he have a board of directors?  Is he an officer?

These are essentially rhetorical questions, because I am certain you have no clue.

Trump: 'The Bush era gave us Obama'
The Hill ^

Trump: 'The Bush era gave us Obama' By Michael O'Brien - 03/30/11 10:09 AM ET

Real estate mogul broke Republicans' famous "11th Commandment" on Wednesday and went on the attack against former President George W. Bush, accusing his administration of leading to President Obama's.

Trump, the bombastic reality television star who's considering a run for the Republican nomination for president, said that the "mistakes" Bush made as president led directly to the election of Obama.

"I think the Bush era really hurt us," Trump said on conservative talker Laura Ingraham's radio show. "The Bush era gave us Obama."

Trump made the comments in context of the question of whether he thought dark-horse Republican figures like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would make good national candidates for the GOP.

Trump called Christie, a rock star among conservatives, a "really good friend of mine," and expressed some affection for Jeb Bush before noting the former president's unpopularity.

"In all fairness to Obama and Sarah Palin, you could not have won that election," Trump said. "At the moment, I just don't want to hear about Bush."

President Reagan, the Republican icon, had a famous "11th Commandment," ordering Republicans not to speak ill of other Republicans.

Bush still suffers from unfavorable ratings but has rebounded some since leaving office. A mid-March Pew Poll found that 42 percent of U.S. adults view the former Republican president favorably, while 54 percent view him unfavorably.

For even allowing a radical marxist scumbag like Obama to have the chance at being POTUS?   Yes, that is Bushs' faut.

Trump: World Has a 'Muslim Problem'
Newsmax ^ | 03/30/2011 | Hiram Reisner

Potential 2012 GOP presidential contender Donald Trump says there “absolutely” is a Muslim problem in the world, and he “couldn’t believe” a mosque is being built near the site of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Trump also told Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Wednesday night it is important President Barack Obama produce his birth certificate, and put the issue to rest.

In the first part of an interview, the continuation of which will be aired Thursday night, Trump touched on a wide range of social and fiscal issues, including his opposition to gay marriage; his pro-life stance; his opinion that U.S. borders should be militarized to deter illegal immigration; his views on union activity; and the need to be able to shop for healthcare.

O’Reilly asked Trump whether there is a Muslim problem in the world.

“Absolutely, absolutely — I don’t notice Swedish people knocking down the World Trade Center,” Trump said. “I came out very strongly against the mosque being built virtually across the street.

“The fact is, it was so insensitive when they announced the mosque in that location,” he said. “Don’t forget, that’s my territory — Manhattan. When they announced the mosque in that location, I couldn’t believe it.”
