Heating costs soar (in Boston)

Heating-oil prices are at the highest level for the season in more than 10 years due to a combination of brutal winter weather and speculators pushing up crude-oil prices.
The average price of heating oil in Massachusetts is now $3.46 a gallon. That’s 61 cents higher than last year’s average and more than $1 more than the average five years ago, according to the state’s Department of Energy Resources.
