Just like how the death penalty exists...and it doesn't deter murders/rapes/...etc from happening.

Interesting. When I was a kid, I never even heard of other kids shooting each other at school or while trying to catch the bus. I hear about school shootings almost every week, just in Canada alone. Not to mention stabbings. That shit never happened when I was 15. What's the divorce rate at now? How young are kids having sex now and 15 year old girls having children. They even have a teen mom show for fuk sakes. People used to hold doors for each other and actually say "thanks." I remember driving a car and people cut you off and wave to say sorry, now they give you the finger and flip out. I remember escorting people of a club and they shake your hand, now they threaten to shoot you. I've seen the decline in the world first hand and I've heard senior citizens talk about how much the world has changed and how society is truly fuked. I agree, because I've seen it too.

Really? I found the centuries of murder in the name of an invisible man to be more horrifying and dangerous then rational thought and science. Was thinking exactly the same... give the kid a .22 rimfire long gun, something stable not a gun that most adults can't control properly.. the father is clearly fucked in the head, he did that tv interview without even feeling bad like 'oh well, it happened..time to move on'

We aren't saying the changes aren't there but people "not believing in anything" does not have anything to do with it. Look at the statistics of religion and criminals. I know what you're saying and yea, a lot of people that state they believe in god aren't good people, but that doesn't mean they are followers and practice their beliefs. Less and less people do. Less people actually attend church, less people pray. In this current world, with all the shit that's going on, it is tough to keep the faith. I don't go to church anymore nor am trying to convince people there is a god. I just believe people that keep that firm faith, keep their values and morals in check more often than not. Doing right by god was instilled in me at a very young age and believe that's why I'm not in jail today, mind you I'm far from perfect and probably further than you.
