I think I have discovered a glitch in the matrix

Leg machiens are crap compared to old universal sit down leg press to failure.

nothing at 24 hour fitness is any good

all painful to get in and out of

esp for tall fuckers

You can go to failure on any selectorized leg press.

And one can even go past failure on any given leg press machine, by using the hand to push on the legs to squeeze out a few forced reps.

I like doing 1-leg presses and sometimes use the other leg for some extended reps

I have twink.....  :-*

Try this one time.....slow eccentric on leg press (4 seconds....LEGIT 4 seconds)....8 reps.....then go right to squats for 12 - 15 reps.  Tell me how well your breathing after your first set.  Tell me your legs arent fried after three sets of that.

Shit man! A 4 second postive and 4 second negative on the leg press to failure would be more than enough for me. I seriously doubt that I would even be able to do a bodyweight squat after that torture session lol

No four second positive.....I just do a standard explosive type push.  I used 630lbs on the icarian leg press, then only 90lbs/side on one of those squat machines.  Leg press sets were 8,8,8.....the squat machine was 19, 15, and 12 (followed by some nice near vomitting)

I do the same for lying tricep extentions with a single dumbbell. Once I can't make a concentric movement, I use my other arm to push the DB in starting position, and perform a slow(!) negative. 2 to 4 of these extended reps and my tri's are done (read: fried LOL) in less than 10 minutes.

Crush me how?  Do it in a rack you dolt!  Do it in a cage.....wow....that was difficult.  Also, do you train to failure on any chest exercises?  How does the bar not end up "crushing" your chest?  I have dumped the bar on a squat TWICE in my whole lifting history.

Personally....training to absolute failure is over rated.  Try using some sort of intensity techniques.  Geezus you're becoming a huge tool.

Exactly...you use a spotter.  Try using one on your squats...or perhaps you should try doing something besides the crappy leg press.  There are plenty of those out there....so do something else...or find a new gym.  When was the last time you ever got close to failure on squats?  My guess is never.  Getting close to failure on leg press is no where close to doing so on squats.  HTH

I am so sick of not being able to goto failure on legs in my shitty 24 hour fitness.

THey have squat racks sure adn leg sleds but nothing you can goto failure on..
In high school I used the universal leg press which I bet compared to this hammer crap is cheap.
It was freakin awesome!!
the machine also had chin dip staion back chest and military all in 1
if 24 put 5 of those on the gym floor they coudl throw out half thier hammer shit.
You love it because you are used to do leg presses with 2" range of motion with it, and same weight even with the same r.o.m is hard to you with sledge press. That press is toy for the living room gyms, not for serious gym. Learn to use the sledge press, even if you have to use 70% less weight with it.
