The supplement industry generates hundreds of billions of dollars each year. Pound for pound, it's more than formidable. It will only grow as the cost of healthcare continue to rise. Supplements have performed year over year in a depressed economy. There is a great NYT article from 2009, that gets into what I just mentioned. The general opinion of supplements, on this tiny board, is not the same as the typical consumer, who shops within the mass market, as well as the health and fitness channel. Simply put, the general population (the people buying this stuff in numbers much larger than those "in the know") believe in supplements. Frankly, anyone who says that all supplements are "snakeoil", are ignorant, or misinformed.
