Protein help
« on: January 21, 2011, 05:50:33 PM »
Ok fellas, I hate to admit this, but I have to swallow my pride and admit that I was wrong when I said that "diet means FUCK ALL" and so I would like to ask for protein guidelines for my fat-loss diet. I plan on eating 1500 cals per day and a minimum of 100 carb grams a day, so my question is, how many protein grams do I need daily? I weigh about a buck 75

Thanks god you have come to reason.

As much protein as possible, simply aim for maximum 60g of fat, 100g carbs and fill up the rest of the calories left with protein.

Thanks fellas ;) And DK, I should make sure that I get at least 100 carb grams daily, right? If I get 100 carbs grams, and 200 pro grams daily, that will leave me with about 35 fat grams daily. And I agree that the protein should come from food not shakes.

personally, i would go even lower with the carbs for 4 days (~50g) with more fat, then have a high carb day every four days.

Shit DK! You can handle 4 days in a row at 50 grams? After the 3rd day, I'm near catotonic-like lol But I make 3 days in a row at 50, so maybe I will try to work it in my diet schedule.

I love me some carbs....way to much!! I couldn't imagine dieting and only eating sub 2k calories with max 100 carbs.....makes me cringe to even think about. If I would do that,  would lose weight so damn fast my head would spin. I have to eat a lot...I mean alot of food to maintain my weight.

Maybe someday I will do the diet thing just to try to burn some of the extra body fat I am carrying, but right now, I am thankful that I can get away without worrying too much about my diet.

 good luck DJ!

yeah dj, it's good you came back to reality. Even if one has a good meatbolism, diet DOES mean fuck all  8)

medium carbs, low/med calories and high protein

i don't care what everyone sayes, but cutting down carbs fucking WORKS... it just plain works, period. Lose carbs = get fucking ripped  8), sure you'll be hungry but it means the shits working, it's like a guarantee card.

Honestly devil, I can handle the hunger on lo carb/lo cal diet, but what I can't handle is the braindead/catatonic feeling it brings to me.

Listen to what no patience told you before, 1 gr/lb of bodyweight. You don't need more than that.

Carbs depend on your metabolism and how much you can tolerate, if you can get results with 200 gr a day or more then why cut them off?

1 gram per lean pound of bodyweight, or per pound of total bodyweight? Also, wouldn't protein needs go up on a lo-carb diet since carbs have a protein sparing effect?
