5-year-old brings loaded gun to Palatka pre-kindergarten class
« on: January 27, 2011, 06:22:26 AM »
Source: Jacksonville.com

A 5-year-old Palatka boy brought a loaded semiautomatic handgun to school Tuesday, prompting a police investigation into where it came from.

Assistant Palatka Police Chief James Griffith said officers were called to Moseley Elementary School after a teacher saw the gun fall from the youngster’s pocket during a pre-kindergarten music lesson Tuesday morning. The teacher retrieved the weapon and notified school administrators, who called police.

The .22-caliber Jimenez semiautomatic handgun was loaded with live ammunition in the magazine but no rounds in the chamber, Griffith said.
The child told police he found the weapon in a vehicle belonging to his stepfather, but investigators hadn’t confirmed that Tuesday night. Griffith promised there will be criminal charges if any adult is found negligent in the case.

charge the parent with negligents, easy as that

Why not? Kindergarten can be a dangerous place, so everyone should be armed and dangerous.  Preferably with a semi-automatic and an extended clip that can fire off 30+ rounds before reloading.

Long live the 2nd amendment!

Luckily for you the constitution doesn't address walking around with sharpened spears. I think your weapons arsenal will remain intact.

I don't know the background to this case, I was just pointing out some of the pressures on American families these days and in this economy it's only getting worse.  No doubt some spiral down into what you're talking about and some do because of those pressures and yea, some just were meant to be there.

I was just guessing too.  You know one of the things that makes it a worse problem is people idea of being "entitled" too much.....just because so and so has a new SUV, boat, big screen, etc.... they feel it is some right of theirs to have the same.  and advertising hones in on that angle to a massive degree.

You're right, everyone has it beaten into their heads from birth via massive advertising that this is what they should seek to have and all they should care about....  Everywhere you go, this crap is shoved at you.  This is a generation that doesn't want anything other than what they are told they want and were brainwashed to want from birth to adulthood.

Exactly.  In many ways i am glad I grew up without a lot.  Never worried too much about "things" because i knew they weren't an option.  Never went without what i needed or anything like that, but also didn't have everything handed to me.  Kids are given way too much at too young of an age and have no appreciation for any of it.  And then they grow into "adults" who are the same way.  They get buried under mtns of debt trying to be like everybody else.

Libs love to preach gun control, all blacks like Betty Blanco blindly vote for Democrats, and yet the number of blacks that will be murdered by other blacks in this country because of gun violence will be astronomical.

Ever notice that in areas where blacks want more Government control (and there already is a shit load of control and money being wasted on fixing the problem) the problems that they bitch about only seem to get worse as government involvement increases? Everything from welfare to gun control, to education to economics and on and on--

yea, our model seems to be to raise kids giving them what they want.  They spend their first 18 years or so being handed food and whatever else they "wished" for... Then they are kicked out and expected to do a 180 from how they were raised.  That seems odd because we use to raise our young to be self supportive.  Back in the day the kids started right away at a young age helping or working and learned what was at stake.  Now we have a generation who grew up not doing any of that and having everything handed to them.  And no doubt, this is the society the corporations pushed and constantly advertised for.  There is a massive failure here... But who do we blame, the people that got suckered or the corporations doing the brainwashing?  You can take the best soul with the best intentions and brainwash them over time....

no doubt about it.  And it's amazing that you can point out to people what is going on and they might even agree.....then they check their blackberry, drive off in their $50k SUV that they financed for 5 yrs to their $500k home they put no down payment on and watch their TV that costs more than some peoples cars to find out what they "need" to make them feel complete......

i really think a much heavier amount of blame falls on the brainwashers.....certain ly the brainwashed should at some point take on a more responsible approach, but it is going to be very difficult, if not impossible, to change course now.

It's ironic that when i lived in your awesome state that I was very unplugged to the outside world....worked 12 hr days, was eating game and garden grown veggies at night, fishing on the weekends and drinking beer with my boss almost every night.....he was a very intelligent guy who had been everywhere and did everything.....just shot the breeze on all types of topics..... it was a great time and probably some of the most relaxing days of my life.
