I feel like a bitch for admitting this, but as an MMA fan I never wanted to see this day come. I'm glad he had the strength of character to bow out like a true champion. Im sad, but still proud of the man. I dont care what anyone says, he is the greatest of all time in my eyes.

George, this wasn't a fair fight. We are so used to seeing Fedor find a way to beat men who outweight him by 50 lbs and who have greater reach and twice his power that we forget that beating oponents who outweight you by 50 lbs and have much greater reach is extremely rare. It's just that Fedor in his prime was so good that he managed to do that all the time. So when the day came when he finally succumbed to the odds of fighting an opponent that vastly outsizes and outpowers him, we are shocked. But remember that only Fedor could get these wins against incredible odds and he couldn't do it forever.

No, it is definitive. It is the announcer who said "maybe" he is retiring. Fedor said that "I am finished. This is time to step down. Maybe this is God's will" He doesen't leave any question...

Yip Fedor was/is a Great Champion, for those of us old enough that Remember Tyson in his Prime in the Mid to late 80s was a Shock when he Lost for the First time in 1990 to Douglas...he seemed near Unbeatable in his Prime, and after that Lost to Douglas IMO he was Never the same Fighter again....Even his first few fights back against Tillman, Steward, Ruddock etc after that lost it was clear his Defense was in the decline and his Punch's were off target more and the combination's few and far between with little head movement etc, Fedor would be wise to leave now, hopefully he doesn't take the same path as other Great Champions before him.

can't be the best forever, nobody should be surprised

we should all be grateful for having the priviledge of watching this man fight for so many years, it's going to be a long time before we see anybody like him again, if ever

He gave us impossible fights. Fights against giants and steroid monsters, kick boxing and Ufc legends. Thanks for the most entertaining performances in mma.

all of these fighters fought in different generations, at least 10 years apart, you don't think that's a long time?

they had their own mystique and aura of dominance for their time, but not only was fedor the best fighter of his generation he had a mystique we have never seen before, being from a foreign country training in seclusion, having a regular mans build, being super calm and unemotional

we've never seen a fighter like him before

He fought in Pride, which was the best org at the time of Fedors reign.
Also, you know NOTHING about fighting with a statement like that.

This is my thought exactly. The reason why we are so shocked that Fedor lost to a man who is 55 lbs heavier is because we are so used to watching him beat fighters who vastly outpower and outweight him. We forget that beating opponents who outweight you by 50+ lbs is extremely rare and only Fedor could do it consistently. Finally, Fedor succumbed to the odds and lost even though he held his own against the monster and even won the first round. How would GSP and Anderson Silva have done in their careers if half of their opponents outweighted them by 50+ lbs? How much would they have won?
