Yep!  Big guys (me included) are more comfortable in an SUV.  :)

thats the problem...they are in no way bigger than most cars....they are just elevated off the ground, and instead of a trunk you have a hatch, and the storage room in the hatch counts as interior room since its in the cabin....the only way you are getting more room is with something the size of a suburban, or tahoe...

Sorry, but I will not buy a car (or any product) out of national pride.  I will buy the product that best suits my needs.  In this case: driving enjoyment, comfort, luxury, etc.  Buying out of sympathy or otherwise rewarding mediocrity is not in my, nor in the nation’s, interest.  American car makers need to make better products plain and simple.  

I have had versions of this conversation throughout my teaching career.  Should I have sympathy for, and give better grades to, students I “like”?  No.  Students get good grades when they perform, plain and simple.

In 2009 Car and Driver evaluated several luxury compact SUVs.  Guess which one came out on top?

ford trucks are number 1 in sales right now because a lot of Americans are pissed off at GM for taking bailout money....Chevy is still making a better truck....i have 1 new Chevy truck, and 2 new ford trucks in the driveway...and i can positively say that..

Actually that is a big deal.  If you are tall (like me) getting in and out of cars is difficult and/or uncomfortable.  A buddy of mine has a Corvette; I practically need a parachute to get into that thing!  >:(

I can step into and out of SUVs very easily precisely because they are so elevated.

Production/assembly of "foreign" and "domestic" vehicles is so intertwined ....

Look at this link to see many "foreign" cars are produced here and many "domestic" cars are assembled in Canada or Mexico.
