Train to work on a legend with the Harley-Davidson Program at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. The program is designed to set you up for careers at Harley-Davidson dealerships. Many of the top manufacturers hire technicians trained at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Instructor John Raffi says, "Keep the legend alive." Call somebody at MMI and get the ball rolling.

Sorry for the nonsensical drivel, but watching G4 (before anyone says it...NOT the G4P Channel) subjects a person to this stupid MMI commercial 100 times a day. I just wanted to see if the ad was as lame in print as it is on TV.

I have a buddy out there in Arizona going thru the classes right now. He quit a very good paying job here where I work and pulled up stakes and moved to Arizona to take the classes. He is also looking at the BMW classes to.

I'm sure the program has its merits and that there is a market for the services. I just have to laugh at the cheesy commercial for the school.

They look like the same guy who made the "5 Hour Energy" one where the guy says "let's do this..." at the end.....2nd rate crapola.

I would think that working on any of the Big Four or BMW or Ducati would be more lucrative...
The Big Four and BMW and Ducati win races, plus there is Yamaha's award winning snow mobiles,
Harley only has what, drag racing? I don't follow them too much. Plus, the Am appeal of workig at a Harley dealership...

Ya but the big 4 and BMW's dont need anything but oil,gas,and tires for the first 100,000 miles.

Your gonna get way more work as a Harley mechanic.

Ahhh, so Harley's are "truly American" in that sense, huh?
There is a Harley dealership near me, right next to the Porsche dealership...I have never gotten what the deal is with Harley....even if they just hired a black chick n sales (I wonder why

).
But, after that issue with MV Agusta and then Buell, it seems that Harley is not really interested in expanding it's wares past Chromed up noise makers...
And it seems that everyone that rides a Harley or goes to the Harley events is a fat middle aged guy/girl.

i think it's illegal for black guys to own Harley's.....

Harleys are big in the US. They are so expensive that it's rare to see a young guy on one. That's why everytime you see a 20K plus Harley go down the road it's a fat old guy living out his fantasy of being an out law biker.

Harleys always need work and their owners are always adding accessories to their bikes. Owners of a Jap bike will mapp the fuel injection and change the exhaust. The jap bikes will run without problems. Ducati bikes are really rare and exotic in the US. Do their valves still need adjusting every 6K miles? BMW bikes just have a limited following here. Same with Triumph.

Trust me, my friends and I all ride Harley's and are far from fat. So, your "everyone" comment doesn't have merit. Ride a Harley at least once and you will see why they are in demand and why it's an American Icon.

I thought I saw you go by on the Harley. I was shocked that a thin young guy was riding one after 40 old fat guys went by on theirs.

Most people who have ridden all of their lives just STFU and ride. I have owned enduros, fast ass japanese rockets and big v-twins. I own a H-D now, its a big heavy bike, not very fast, looks real nice and has a comfy seat and a nice stereo.
One thing you learn as you get older, ALL of them break.

I see alot of black dudes with Harleys---all fat and middle age... Sure their are some skinny dudes, but you can't be fat leaning on a sport bike,

There is this one black dude that I always see near the Harley dealership in Annapolis---dressed in all black, and sweating like he's in a sauna...

There are some Harley models I like, and Harleys seem to never age in terms of style, whereas the Sportbikes, especially ones from the Big Four, tend to age in terms of style. That's just my opinion, based on styling alone...

But, speaking of mechanic schools, there was one that was advertising about being a mechanic for factory race teams...that was their main selling point.

I ride one of these sometimes. I am getting a basket installed so I can take packages to the post office once we are in the clear weather wise.

I looked into this and it has one of the worst pay rates ive ever seen. Tops out at like 15 an hour. Only way to make a living at it is to start an indy. But thats not an easy thing to start up. Heres my pic hehe.
