Just this past weekend, I watched the news here in Raleigh and a black guy had a confrontation with two white guys who owned some tire shop.....the black guy allegedly was upset and hit one with a tire tool, he had serious cuts and bruises.....and the guys father jumped in and sometime during the fight the dreaded "n" word was dropped.....now cue home slice laying on his couch contemplating filing charges on it being a 'hate crime" what a load of shit.....

I think you are right, its hard to jump to the conclusion that he singled him out cuz he was white, BUT he did seem to act out some of his prejudice.. so it could be argued that him dominating the white dude was 'racially motivated'.

I think in NC they have to go to the magistrate and the magistrate decides, then the DA gets it, if the magistrate does say it's a "hate crime", the DA can make the decision to change it, being that there is no probable cause...

i agree. Doubt it will go anywhere, but of course the local news had to make it out like a big deal. They visited the tire shop and it was funny because one of the employees was black and he just laughed at the TV people trying to insinuate it was "race related."

I'm going with Michael Scott from the Office.....when someone snuck into his office and shit in the floor, he yelled "hate crime" and somebody told him it wasn't one....his reply? "Well, I hated it...."
