I've done every ab form of "ab training" imaginable.  Mine grew really well, and I stopped training them years ago.  I mean once a week I'll do some incline reverse crunches, decline crunches, and bang out a few sets on some weighted ab machine, but I don't think it's really necessary.

Honestly I don't know what to tell you, but I wouldn't worry too much about training them.  If you can do a set of fifty jacknives and max out a weighted crunch machine, I don't think you're going to get much more out of your abs doing ab specific workouts.

I tend to agree with coach though -- I think crunching motions are mostly good for spinal degeneration and high blood pressure.

Of course I still do them. ::)

It's funny how people will do a billion specific exercises for their abs but none for the spinal erectors, when they perform pretty much analogous roles.

training abs?? lol

abs are trained in the kitchen,,you want abs naturally you eat less garbage or eat more garbage and pray you have high natural gh in body and you will knwo it very well because the whores wil be all over you ages 16-22,,

if hormonized...gh and all you can eat buffet will get your abs showing nicely lol,, 9% easily! after 3 months of constant use of gh with ANY TYPE OF DIET YOU CHOOSE,,you heard this right ,,you will see your abs at 9% or under on any type of diet of your choice if you been on legit gh at 5 iu or more for 3 months

any type of diet you chose still doesnt = drinking oil all day ,,it mean restaurant burger,,sushi,,jamaican,,german,,etc wont matter you will be single digit within 3 months of gh usage unles you started at 25-30% ,,most fellas who start gh are between 10-15% and go into single digits effortless within 3 months on the gh

you dont trsain abs when experienced bodybuild,,many exercise touch them indirectly and you just dont train them on regular basis and usually not at all,,it is lower bodyfat that will show abs,,again sometime you are single digit and still dont see abdominal clear because you are water fountain see mr 13 place flex show dan hell,,but! abs are not traind via exercise ,,exercise only will grow your midsection when you want to keep it tight and appear small especially with all the hormones,,you train abs in kitchen and the hormones do the rest

if you want hard/strong midsection you need to train abs aswell.

olympic weightlifters all train abs very hard and they are 100000x stronger than any bodybuilder.

Abs get visible easyer when you train them VERY hard, but ofcourse diet is the number one factory to get them visible. I was talkigng about getting them strong.

Which exercises train abs indirectly

Also are you saying training abs is useless  ??? ???

nothing is usless,,drinking milk 4% is also not usless but i just dont do it,,some do some dont,,what i say is that for advance bodybuild the ab training is usless,,we already have abs straining from anything we do any exercise involving chest back legs all you work your abs every squiz your abs work my friend,,the thing with abs is that if you want them to show you need to have low body fat and even then YOU NEED TO HAVE LOWER WATER RETENTION !! how many time you see fella liek groink from this board ,,the fella has muscle from here to china and back big fella hard toned yet abs dont show,,line not show,,he is not high bodyfat,,around 12% why nto show then? they not show because the water retention ! ! ! notice on his midsection he has hard and solid midsection but no abs,,,its because the water retention there is high.....

so not everyone with sub 12% can see abs ,,,the fellas with high water retention will only see them clear at true 7-8% ,,,soem fellas walk around 10% and do not see abs ...they see lines shape but nothing with deep cuts...why? again water retention ,,those are the fellas who need to get down to 7-8% to see the abs clearly

so again ,,it is in the kitchen and in the drug department where you design your abs ...not in the gym,,yes you can get your midsection stronger,,but for the bodybuildr there arre better options out there especially the advance one ,,the begginer yes but the advance ones rarly touch abs

I agree...if you want deep abs...no kitchen will help you, you must train them...
For example me...even at low bf% my abs are definately "not cool"...why? because i didnt train them all these years!
I started training them this year religiously...and they have definately thickened up.

wrong again,,

notice what you see happen to our midsecion when we go on growth hormone,,all together now pupils....it start seperating and growing apart,,you know that space between the abdominals the median line is somewhere in the middle and then from both side of it there is space....very similar to the space in ones front teeth that you see on many individuals....

this space is how your body respond to high doses of growth hormone,,legit growth hormone,,

what create the big developed skin tight abs is GROWTH HORMONE and the consistant usage of ANABOLICS,, the abs then grow like any other part of the body and seperate ..... the skin tighten aroudn them and they push out ....it happen into 6th month of gh usage at any dosages as long as legit gh ,,and it happen drasticaly when adding insulin to the gh at high doses where the abs start prutruding and go through the skin no matter how much you worked or didnt work them ,,the abs grow like any other muscle and thats what create this deepness,,

we are long pass the time when the bodybuilder set in gym and did 500 crunches,,,long long past this time

now day what create big developed abdominals  is the gh ,,the steroid and then the insulin that is added ,,all that along with prep diet will take your abs and shoot them into a new level due to lower and lower bodyfat  that has nothing to do with diet directly as i said 100 time before due to hgh but! but! less water retention that has  LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTS TO DO WITH diet,,

bodybuilder mainly diet to get rid of 3% bodyfat and  water due to water retention ,,the abs will be there no matter what moment body fat us low enough and more importently they will be there even at 10% if! water retention is not very high ,, at 8-9% everyone start seeing abs pretty clear even if water rention and 7% is where you see the tunel starting to show,,from then on is mainly water manipulation and little bit of fat

so thats that

that's all? I was thinking you would still be bale to do with 130kg....

even I can handle that weight in front squats.

I know that I need ab isolation exercises. Front squats didn't make my abs stronger, but planks did. I noticed that 3 sets of easy weighted planks activated my abs more than 10 heavy front squat sets did. I think everyone who wants to have a good front squat (not just mediocre, I mean really good) should try different ab exercises because you'll never know.

Ab wheel didn't work for the gym strength like the plank did, but it is the best exercise I have tried for hypertrophy.

You want a big squat? Try to stretch out your stomach as much as possible. Get the circumference as big as possible. Try to get as much visceral fat as possible. Worked for me!  :D

Lots of sugar.

Lots of solid bloating food.

Gallon of milk a day.
