For now I had to stick w/ the reserves. As soon as I came back to my civilian job I got promoted there so w/ this years compensation review I was going to make the move to either stay reserve or go active (sort of a money vs. fulfillment thing). The latter happened so I'm on the boards for meritorious cpl promotion and if that goes through I'll be investigating active. I'm still less than 2 years on deck.

Nice. I wish I had went in the reserves first, but I went right out of HS. Then after I was out for about 8 yrs, I rejoined the reserves. |

I really don't take issue with the reserves per say. I'm in a HQ unit though and we will literally never be activated. I at least want the specter of deployment there otherwise why the fuck did I even bother. If this active decision hadn't been made I was going to lateral move when I picked up. My GT scores are high enough for me to do anything I want.

I hear ya. I rejoined the reserves after 9/11 and they let me keep E-5 from when I was active. I just got bored with it and when I moved further away from the drill site, I just decided to get back out. |
