I've personally arrested several burglars in the act. I've arrested many more with warrants as a detective.

I've arrested aggravated assault suspects in the act, I've arrested many more with warrants as a detective

I've arrested at least 2 rapists fleeing the scene and have assisted in cases identifying and arresting subjects after the fact. You seem to think a rape victim doesn't care if their rapists is eventually caught..they do.

A bunch of folks who had just beaten up their spouses or girlfriends and I can recall many a time when we arrived prior to assaults happening and "stopped" them.

The argument is ridiculous which is why I didn't respond before. I've caught several car burglars in the act, and I'm pretty sure that "stopped" them from committing more.

I really don't know where you get the idea police don't do anything pro active.. again, you're argument was baseless.

Look at the actual numbers in your own jurisdiction... Of all arrests, what is the percentage of them that are for violent crimes? (You can even add burglary to that if you want)
