The problem with these teacher's unions is that their salaries and benefits rise regardless of the job they do. Our public education system is a joke in a lot of states right now. 2/3 of Wisconsin 8th graders are not proficient in reading despite Wisc spending more money per student than any state in the Mid West. In the private sector those results would result in you getting canned but in the public sector its ground for a wage increase.

Last time I checked, they spend nearly $11,000 per student. If you spend that much money and only a third of your 8th graders can read proficiently, you need to get FIRED with the quickness.

That's the problem. If these teachers' unions performed like that in the public sector, they'd be out of business within a matter of months.
